Description
Gibson invented the modern mandolin, and Gibson Master Luthier Lloyd Loar perfected it with the F-5. Its hard to believe that was one hundred years ago, and yet the F-5 is still the gold standard of mandolin tone, playability, and beauty. Generations of artists and even new musical genres have been influenced by it. Original examples have become holy grails.
The F-5G is a Modern Collection version of Gibsons iconic F-5 design. Tuned to the needs of modern mandolin players, its player-friendly specs include an unbound ebony fingerboard, a 14-degree fingerboard radius, no pickguard, and a short fingerboard extension. The neck and body are made from figured red maple and are coupled with a carved Sitka spruce top. The F-5G features refreshed specifications, contours, and construction for optimal acoustic response. Finished in Dark Burst gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, a hardshell case is included.
