The YTS23 is a older generation model of Yamahas student Tenor Saxophone line, the current model being the YTS26.

The YTS23 was in production from 1980 until 2001. During that 20 year span this horn forged a reputation for itself that keeps this horn relevant and beloved more than 20 years after the last one left Yamahas shelves.

As a student model instrument, the 23 was built to be unfussy and simple. Designed to withstand some rougher handling, especially from younger beginners, this horn still managed to garner respect from those players seeking an instrument with a more mature sound.

The YTS23 is designed with comfort in mind. It has a comfortable level of resistance that is even throughout the full range of the horn. The highs and lows of the instrument are also exceptionally balanced for a horn of this age and price point. It has solid intonation, and is flexible enough to work with its user to find the tuning sweet spot.

Yamaha has been favoured for their ergonomics even since there earliest days, case in point with this horn. It is comfortable to hold and will go longer than most comparable models without needing to be worked on by a technician to reign things back into place.

For an instrument that may be coming up on its mid-thirties, this 23 is in great cosmetic shape. It has some unavoidable wear and tear, minor scratching through the body. Though it sports no dents or major blemishes.

***Instrument lives in a Pro Tec contoured tenor case. It comes with an unmarked student level mouthpiece.
