The 700s are constructed entirely of solid silver, giving it a bright, expressive sound that is desirable for any variety of flutist. This flute features inline drawn and curled tone-holes, this design further broadens the flutes sound while maintaining its lightness. The Straubinger "Pheonix" pads used on this flute are favoured due to their softer touch and superior response in any dynamic range. They are also designed to be more resistant to environmental changes.

The headjoint is Yamahas "Type A" design, which provides the player with quicker response, while further contributing to the numerous features on this flute geared to delivering a wide expressive range.

The thickness of the wall on this flute has been increased from lesser Yamaha models to improve the balance when paired with the new headjoint.
