Description
The clarinet is an interesting little instrument with an equally as interesting history. It first came around sometime in the early 1700's, fairly recent for concert instruments, via a German instrument maker who thought it a wonderful idea to stick a register key on a recorder. This would allow for a wider range of sound, though weak in volume. In the modern day, the clarinet can boast a variety of sounds through many registers, often finding itself in jazz, concert, or even folk-style ensembles.
Student model clarinets often focus on durability and ease of play; having resin-plastic bodies to withstand bumps and dents, and keys plated either nickel or silver for easy cleaning. Hinge rods and springs tend to be bouncy and light to allow for snappy key response, while a lightweight body lets students practice longer without strain. All of theses traits can be found in this Vito clarinet above; just waiting to find a new home.
