Description
The Yamaha YTR-734 is a vintage Yamaha professional level trumpet focused to the jazz idiom.
Having been made in Japan rather than offshore, this horn was a top of the line instrument in its day, and has only grown finer with age. It features a medium-large bore and a slightly larger bell to produce of a lovely warm sound perfect for the jazz or commercial player. The reverse leadpipe gives a more freeblowing playing experience with less resistance. The yellow brass construction finished with silver plating gives the tone of this horn good complexion synonomous with the 'vintage sound'.
The 700 series horns date back to the 1970s, and were some very early examples of great Yamaha design. Now, 50 years later, many of these horns are still kicking around and live as a testament to the long lasting engineering of Yamaha design. This particular 734, has seen some use. The plating is worn around the valves and some other spots where hands are frequently touching the metal. Though otherwise the plating is in great shape as there are few small scratches and no dents or dings.
The playability of this horn is excellent. As with any product for sale here at Long and McQuade, it is constantly under supervision for any issues, both of cosmetic and funtional nature. The valves on this horn are excellent, and the slides all move freely.
Despite the professional nature of this horn, it would be at home in the hands of a beginner as well. With approachable balance and weight, one could not ask for much of a better horn to be learning on, or bringing on tour.
