This model of besson tuba offers a larger bore mouthpipe which, when paired with the 19" bell, gives a wider, more symphonic tone. The 981 is listed as a more 'concert' horn, which can easily fill any size of venue with a deep, and rich tone. The mouthpipe is also placed lower down on this tuba, allowing for more comfort when playing in a seated position.
