Bigger than a travel-size Baby Taylor but just shy of a full-size guitar, the Big Baby is ideal for easy-playing, great-sounding guitar fun. Sporting a solid spruce top, sturdy layered wood back and sides, and genuine Taylor craftsmanship, the Big Baby makes a great songwriting guitar to keep around the house.

This new version of the Big Baby Taylor features layered walnut back and sides and a maple neck. While the rich tones of solid wood remain unmatched, a layered wood construction can yield great sound in a beautiful, durable and affordable instrument. Such is the case with layered walnut, in which Taylor uses interior and exterior veneers of walnut with a core layer of poplar between them. One of the benefits of layered wood for guitars is extra resilience in the face of fluctuating humidity conditions. This comes in handy for guitars like the GS Mini and Baby Taylor models, which are travel-friendly guitars that may be more directly exposed to different environments.

The Walnut Big Baby also features Taylor's Expression System Baby™ (ES-B) pickup, which incorporates piezo elements from Expression System® 2. The pickup is powered by an onboard preamp that boasts a handy built-in digital chromatic tuner. The preamp/tuner unit features an LED display for tuning and low battery indication, along with Tone and Volume controls. The extra utility makes it easier than ever to sound your best, both unplugged and amplified. The guitar comes with a gig bag for easy portability.
