Description

Fender Custom Shop presents the 1956 Journeyman Relic Telecaster. More than 65 years after its predecessor, this instrument delivers a look, sound and energy that perfectly evokes the golden age of the Stratocaster.

The two-piece select ash body produces balanced highs and sweet midrange with lively resonance, with an off-center joint and wrapped in the Journeyman Relic Flash Coat finish in Aged White Blonde. This special treatment gives the appearance of a guitar that has changed hands or been passed down over the years, as if it were played primarily at home and at occasional jam sessions or weekend gigs. This generally well-kept appearance includes minor finish blemishes, several “nice” nicks and dings to the wood, some dulling of the hardware, and moderate general wear. The look of a very lucky find, all in all.

The one-piece, face-sawn maple neck features a soft '54-style "V" profile, topped with a comfortable retro compound-radius maple fingerboard (7.25"-9.5") that tapers slightly toward the nut for easy bending, with 21 retro medium frets (47095) and a bone nut. Three hand-wound Custom Shop '55 Strat® pickups (reverse-wound/reverse-polarity middle pickup for growl cancellation in switch positions 2 and 4) deliver crisp highs and well-balanced mids, with retro '54-'58 Strat wiring and a five-way switch. Other premium features include a single-ply parchment-style pickguard, Custom Shop retro synchronized tremolo bridge, retro-style tuning machines and a winged string guide with nylon spacer. A high quality case, strap and certificate of authenticity are included.
