Cannonball Saxophones
With François d'Amours
A Rivière du Loup native son, François D’Amours was only 14 when he first put his lips to a saxophone mouthpiece. He immediately fell in love with the instrument, abandoning his earlier dream of playing drums. From then on, he focused on studying music, first at Ste-Foy high school, then at the Colleges in Ste-Foy and St-Laurent, finally completing his studies at the Université de Montréal. His unique style and tone quickly made a name for him, making him much in demand in jazz and popular music circles.
He has been seen—and heard! —with such artists as Gino Vannelli (world tour), Michel Cusson, Alain Caron, Paolo Ramos, Garou, On the soundtrack of “The Triplets of Belleville”, Michel Pagliaro, Lulu Hughes, Marc Hervieux, Nikki Yanovsky, Robert Charlebois, Claude Dubois, Bruno Pelletier, Luck Merville, Corey Hart, The Four Tops, The Temptations, The group Whip Cream, Bob Walsh, The Montreal Symphonic Orchestra, Lara Fabian, Isabelle Boulay, and many, many more. He has also appeared on countless radio, jingles and television shows and recorded with many Quebec and international artists. please contact Joelle Rossignol-Chiasson to make appointments at [email protected].

Légère Reeds
With Sean King
Formal workshop on how Legere reeds are made and history of the company and then further time to test.
Sean King is Légère's Manager of Artist and Customer Experience. He is a composer, arranger, and performer from Toronto, Canada. He plays woodwind instruments and bass, and studied composition and performance at the University of Toronto. He is also active as an conductor, music educator, and voice actor.
Légère produces premium synthetic clarinet, saxophone, bassoon and oboe reeds. They are used by players in the most prestigious orchestras and on stages around the world. Légère reeds produce a warm, vibrant sound while remaining consistent and playable for a very long time.
Légère Reeds Ltd. was founded by Dr. Guy Légère and Dr. Mark Kortschot in 1998. Guy, a scientist and amateur clarinetist, thought that there had to be a product that played as well as moist cane without any of the inevitable issues that resulted from using traditional reeds. It was his drive and passion to change these issues that lead to the creation of the first Légère Reed prototype.
After many trials, failed attempts and re-engineering, the first sixty prototypes were made on a home-built CNC machine. They were taken to ClarinetFest in 1998 to test with experienced players. To Mark and Guy’s amazement, all the reeds sold out in half a day, and the rest… is history!
Today, Légère Reeds produces state of the art synthetic reeds for many single and double reed instruments. Distributed worldwide, the reeds are produced in an ultra-modern manufacturing and distribution facility in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. please contact Joelle Rossignol-Chiasson to make appointments at [email protected].
