Please join us for an informative and fun session for trombone players of all levels. Trombonist Alexis Smith will lead this session on trombone playing techniques and tips on selecting the proper instrument for you. Alexis is a Shires trombone artist with a wealth of knowledge on what trombone works best for your style and level of playing. There will be a great selection of Shires Q and custom trombones and components to try before and after the session.

• How to get the most out of the pentatonic/ blues scale
• Pentatonic scales sequences
• Playing inside and outside
• Simple explanation of the modes
• Modal pentatonic scales
• Improvising with scales
• Superimposing pentatonic scales for modern sounds
Attendees are encouraged to bring their guitar!
Fred Donkor is a Berklee College of Music graduate and music teacher with the OCDSB. He is also an active freelance session musician & private instructor in the Ottawa area.
On the recommendation of Vernon Reid (guitarist from Living Color), he received a private invitation to audition for the Spin Doctors (on Epic Records) in NYC.
