with Joseph Abourjaili  

Join Joseph for a guitar clinic focusing on the proper use of modes, jazz harmony, and phrasing. Regardless of your skill level, the knowledge learned from this jazz guitar clinic will improve your musical vocabulary.

Joseph has been playing guitar for over 20 years and has been teaching for over 15 years. He earned an Associates Degree in Music from Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Performance with honours from Humber College in Toronto, Ontario. Joseph has taught music in Seoul, Hollywood, and Toronto. He has performed as a guitarist with partners of Cirque Du Soleil and other musical theatre acts including British Invasion. He was a guitarist for the televised series, Taiwanese Idol, and with his band, Behind Closed Doors.

Massaging the Muse – A Songwriter’s Strategies for Getting Unstuck       
with Tony Ivan O’Hara  

Tony Ivan O’Hara is a Fraser Valley-based songwriter/singer/guitarist who can be found performing in the award-winning band “Roads Unknown”, the funky blues & roots duo “Strong Bow & Wry” - winners of the Fraser Valley Blues Challenge in the solo/duo category, and recently returned from showcasing in Memphis as part of the International Blues Challenge.

Tony has been writing songs since he could speak, and has particular love for writing blues and folk songs.

Over the course of the evening, we will record a song written by a local Juno-Award winning songwriter - using a combo of analog/digital methods and gear, highlighting the differences between them and how to incorporate them easily into your recording/mixing setup.

All experience levels welcome and links to the "finished" product will be made available the following day!
