Learn the proper way to assemble and run a PA system for your event, whether you're playing music from a laptop, or setting up a gig for a band. Topics to be covered include: connecting equipment the proper way, microphone and speaker placement, setting up wired and wireless mics, setting levels on a mixer, and EQing properly for the venue.

Kris is a vocalist and guitar player who started learning live mixing and audio engineering as a young teenager.  They've been on setup crews and audio teams for several concerts, festivals, and stage productions, and helped produce an internationally broadcasted conference from Sweden at 16 years old.  Kris is a Sales & Rental Associate at Long & McQuade Fredericton, and also enjoys carpentry, electronic repair, and all that the outdoors has to offer.

Metal Guitar Tone 101  
with Matthew Petitpas

Learn the fundamentals of creating and shaping your metal tone, whether you are using a solid state, modeling or tube amplifier. We'll talk about how to best use overdrive and distortion pedals, and what kinds of guitars to use to meet all of your riff-chugging needs!

Matthew is a 20+ year veteran of metal guitar who has been recording music and playing shows for various bands and projects. He has also spent time under the tutelage of renowned metal producer and engineer, Scott Giffin, who has worked with such artists as Tosin Abasi (Animals as Leaders) and Nick Johnston.

Matthew is a Sales & Rental Associate at Long & McQuade Fredericton, and also enjoys fitness, sports, and coaching the Montreal Canadiens from his living room.
