Doug’s extremely popular clinic series continues with a look at the fundamentals of digital recording. Software and hardware options will be explored, as well as some of the latest technological trends for computer, tablet and smartphone recording.

Innovative Techniques for Electric String Instruments
with Oscar Robles Diaz

In this clinic, music educator and multi-instrumentalist Oscar Robles Diaz will break down innovative techniques such as tapping and thumping. As Oscar will demonstrate, these techniques can be applied on standard basses and electric guitars, as well as non-standard instrumentation, allowing for new pathways in composition and sound creation. 

For the tapping component of the clinic, Oscar will take the opportunity to demonstrate his U10 Touch Guitar ® – an instrument developed specifically for tap-style playing.  

Thumping is a percussive approach to playing strings that was popularized on the bass by the legendary Victor Wooten, and more recently in the guitar world by Tosin Abasi.
