Modern Metal Production Clinic
with Sacha Laskow
Modern Metal in 2023 has a distinct, unique production style and aesthetic that isn’t really shared with any other genre. Many producers have said that if you can mix Metal, you can mix anything. The density and range of frequencies, the technicality, maintaining clarity among the chaos is an art.
Topics:
- Programming instruments to sound realistic and huge using Virtual Instruments
- Using MIDI, AI and other tools to help in your writing, demo and producing process
- Tracking techniques and editing to capture pristine tracks and make mixing easier
- Production tips and tricks to make the song come to life – layering, FX, automation
- Mix breakdown of a modern Metal track – Drums, Bass, Guitar and Synth / Backings
As a guitarist, Sacha cut his teeth in Divinity, with numerous tours and albums to their credit while being signed to Nuclear Blast and Candlelight Records. Other side projects included Enditol and Walk as Chaos, before he ultimately formed Every Hour Kills. To give back to the Alberta music community, Sacha has been teaching aspiring young musicians guitar and recording techniques for over a decade.
