Introduction To Caribbean Drumming Styles with Ibiko Pelle

Born and raised in the beautiful Caribbean Island of Antigua & Barbuda, Ibiko Pelle is a devoted representative of the music industry in his country. This dedicated and talented musician got his start in one of the world’s oldest steel orchestras, The “Hells Gate Steel Orchestra” of Antigua, with which he is still affiliated. Passionate and humorous, this young drummer genuinely understands the meaning of true musicianship. His inspirations are drawn from the many musical acts of Calypso, Soca and Reggae for which the Caribbean is known for. Ibiko has played in several Antiguan bands, such as “The Specialist Band”, “The Good Vibes Band”, “Le Chateau d’Or Steel Ensemble”, “Le Temps de Trois”, “The Zahra Lake Experience”, and other local groups. After moving to Halifax, Nova Scotia for university, Ibiko’s next musical journey as the drummer for “Andru Branch & Halfway Tree” in Halifax began. In this capacity, he was featured on the band’s latest album, ‘Weather the Storm”, and has travelled throughout Nova Scotia playing various events and festivals. Throughout all Ibiko’s accomplishments, his genuine love for drumming and music remains strong.

Learn how to stand out on the web, the process of finding your own lane, content creation tips, and staying focused.

Andwele Simons was born in the sunny island of Bermuda. From a young age, he always showed an interest in drums. His father got him started on his drumming path at the age of two!  As a child, Andwele was also a heritage member of the John Warner Bermuda Gombey Troup, as a dancer & drummer. From high school concert band, and his own band made up of himself, his younger Brother Jacqui and childhood best friend Desta, he began performing regularly. At age 17 he started his own drumming school, where he tutored many drummers and groomed them for musical careers. He has toured with many bands from The Unit & Working Title. He has occupied the drum throne for The Spinners, Reggae Artist Etana the Strong One, Sia Spense, McCartney Darrel, The Wallstreet Band and many more. He also was the MD for the Bermuda Idol and he was a drum tech for many drummers. Finally, before he left for Nova Scotia, Canada, he and DJ Ko Minors started a duo called "O32" playing Afro Beat & Afro House rhythms. From his home studio, Andwele records content for his online platforms and for artists around the world. He is known for his solid feel and grooves & clean drum sound. His main goal is to be a positive motivating force in the music industry.
