About the Clinicians:
Steáfán Hannigan is an internationally respected multi-instrumental musician, playing among others, the Bodhrán, Darbuka, Doumbek, Djembe, Tar, Riq Bendir, Tapan, and other folk instruments including Uilleann Pipes, Flutes, Whistles, and odd string instruments from across the globe. He’s a teacher and educator having played all over the world and learned percussion form many players across the globe, including Greece, India, Syria, Sudan, Turkey, to name a few.
He has created workshops in Canada at many events including previous drum month clinics for Long and McQuade, Goderich Celtic festival, St Annes College Cape Breton. He created the Bodhrán Book, The Bodhrán DVD - the premier tutor for the bodhrán.
He is a session musician and recording artist with over 200 artists on his C.V. working in T.V. Radio Theatre and film. T.V includes Friends, Earth Final Conflict, Relic Hunter, Black Harbour Copper, Legend of Ponnivalla.
The artists list includes Depeche Mode, the Chieftains, Loreena McKennitt, Donald Quan, Michael Flatley, Uriah Heep, Björk, and Gary Barlow.
Oisín Hannigan was born in Wolverton, England, took to hitting drums as soon as he could crawl and learned his chops sharing the stage with his parents Steáfán Hannigan and Saskia Tomkins. Oisín has been teaching and playing at a professional level since the age of eleven, some of his past successes include: winning the Comhaltas Mid Atlantic Bodhrán championship in 2009, playing with the Chieftains, once at the age of 9 at Massey Hall, and once again at Roy Thomson Hall age 11.
Recent projects include: Opening for Lauryn Hill at Venues including Massey Hall in Toronto, and Radio City Music Hall in New York City with Award winning musician Paul Beaubrun (with Aubrey Dayle, Brad Cheeseman, and Rich Brown), Playing with Juno Award winner Divine Brown at her Christmas special, Playing in David Newland's Band “Uncharted Waters”, recording for multiple Gemini Award winning composer Donald Quan on his soundtrack for the T.V series “Star Hunter”, and soon to be working with Juno award winner Tanika Charles.
Oisín is also in the process of recording an album with his family band “Clan Hannigan” where he is making his debut as a singer.
