Musical Playground with Brian McConnell
Flutist Brian McConnell has split his time between playing jazz flute and working in the instrument side of the music industry for several decades. A couple of years ago he began experimenting with pre-recorded loops in Logic, and decided this would be an interesting way to build demos to feature improvised flute in contexts that were neither jazz or classical. The loop experiments also provided the bonus of a new –and fun – way to practice. More recently Brian has been using loops to build complete compositions. This event will include a short concert featuring some of these compositions for the first time, followed by a demonstration using some individual loops. There will also be some practice tips for musicians interested in improvisation. This event will appeal to flute players in particular, but the content will be relevant for anyone interested in loops and the fun that can be had developing your own musical playground.
