Trumpeter, author, and professor, Chase Sanborn, will unravel the mysteries of improvisation for those who strive to play jazz, or simply listen to it with an informed ear. Able to express complex ideas in simple ways, Chase will discuss and demonstrate with his trio topics like deriving melody from harmony, why your ears understand more than your brain, why words matter, why it sounds better when you stop playing, and the difference between a solo that merely sounds good, versus one that feels good.
