Improvisation 101 with Tyson Galloway

Tyson will be explaining basic improvisation with music theory, note selection, and understanding chords and scales. He teaches double bass, guitar, banjo and ukulele here at L&M Cobourg and plays in many different local music projects including “Madman’s Window”, “The Invisible Sidemen” and “Hot Club de Port Hope”.

Clayton and Brandon Humphrey, both from different local bands, will be giving tips on being a versatile guitarist, and how to apply this to various genres. They will also be talking about the guitars, amps and pedals they use, and how to find YOUR tone!

Join Jacob Moon as he takes you on his live looping journey. This interactive and engaging presentation will help you unlock your creativity and gain a greater understanding of looping technology, while getting a detailed look at how to approach the looper as a solo performer. Performing songs such as Subdivisions, Jacob will be demonstrating his skills on the BOSS RC 300, the Jam Man, and the Stereo Memory Man

Join us for a great workshop with ukulele master Manitoba Hal. This workshop teaches how to use a basic tuner with a stereo and the circle of fifths to learn the chords to any song you can hear. Great for beginners and more advanced players. Bring your uke and Hal will help you train your ears.

Delta Blues - An Acoustic Fingerstyle Guitar Workshop with Rick Fines

Renowned guitar player Rick Fines teaches the basics of a Delta-style Blues, so you can sound like Robert Johnson, or some of the guitarists that based their sound on his style like Eric Clapton or Keith Richards. Bring an acoustic guitar and learn the chord shapes that make up this classic blues style. You’ll learn the right-hand techniques that make the style so powerful and the inversions and riffs that created the sound that lives on in today’s rock music. Workshop will end with a 30min Q&A session.
