Recording 101 with Ray Wilson

Learn the basics of capturing your music with your computer. From hardware to software, you will learn what components are necessary and how to set up your new gear to begin recording in minutes. Ray is the Sales Manager of Yorkville Sound, owner of Synergy Studio in Pickering, Ontario, and spends his free time teaching the art of audio engineering. With over 30 years of studio and recording experience, his resume includes voice over work (Scholastic Books, CanDo Children’s Books, etc.), band recordings (Mahogany Ridge, GWood Band, etc.) and solo artists (Dave Lawlor, Chantelle Hope, Josh Kvasnak, etc.) He is a drummer and vocalist as well with his current band, One Night Stand!

This seminar will focus on the basics of live sound operation from the source to the speakers, and will cover all of the essentials required for creating great sounding performances. Darren is Yorkville Sound’s Pro Audio Specialist and has been working in the industry for over 10 years setting up, operating and consulting on audio systems for audiences of 100 to 10,000 people.

Guitar Care and Maintenance Basics with Blair Marshall

This informative presentation will help you get the most out of your guitar and ensure it’s always in top playing condition. Blair will cover many topics such as how to properly (and safely) re-string your guitar (acoustics and electrics), cleaning the fingerboard, frets, basic neck adjustments, how to choose the right strings for your guitar and playing style, proper polishing & cleaning products, as well as the effects of humidity on your guitar, storage, travel and more! Blair is a Guitar Products Specialist at Long & McQuade Moncton, and has been trained at the Taylor, Gibson and Godin guitar factories. He has been playing guitar for over 20 years.

Mixing Tricks and Techniques with Jonathan Arsenault

This presentation will be of special interest to anyone wanting to learn how to get the most out of their audio mixer. Live or studio, small or large, Jonathan will cover the basics to make sure your sound is crisp, clear and punchy (or whatever you want it to be!) every time. Jon will also be covering the differences and benefits of both analog and digital mixers as well as some tricks of the trade to help you get the most out of your gear. Jonathan has been a staple in the Moncton music scene for over 15 years. A multi instrumentalist, studio engineer and live sound engineer, Jonathan has a keen interest in all things audio and has worked with many local artists, as well as various artists performing at Casino NB.
