Woodwind Reed Workshop for All Clarinet and Saxophone Players

Presented by Professor Paul Bendzsa, this 90 minute hands-on session will include the selection, adjustment, and preservation of reeds, which will give a confident and consistent sound. Professor Bendzsa will also include a demonstration of reed making! Bring your instruments and reeds, and prepare to have fun. Open to all ages and levels of ability. Teachers are especially welcome. Reeds have a long and ancient history; from fishing poles to clarinet concertos and Jazz solos and even for firing projectiles! They are sharp, sensitive and razor-thin, and although they appear at first sight to be similar, they are not. By the end of the workshop you will have learned how to choose, prepare, and break-in reeds to improve tone, tonguing, technique, and to better communicate beautiful music. Any questions can be directed at Stephane Pellerin at 709.753.1885 or [email protected]
