Drum Circle with Katie Power

Join us in drumming, song, inspired words and an overall positive way to start your Saturday morning! We will be providing drums for up to 24 people, so come early or bring your own instrument (all acoustics are welcome). No experience is required. The Drum Circle will be guided by Katie Power of Alive Adventures. They offer drum circle events, workshops and summer camps for youth and the community. Their mission is to connect community through adventure and inspiration.
Katie is a trained community drumming facilitator.

Beginner Ukulele Clinic with Steve Murphy

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN UKULELE TO THIS CLINIC.
Have you always wanted to play the ukulele but are not sure where to start? Grab your uke and join Steve as he demonstrates basic strumming patterns and beginner techniques. This clinic is ideal for those who have never played before, or who have a bit of guitar or ukulele experience. In addition to strumming patterns and technique, Steve will show how to use the 12 bar blues on the ukulele. Then put all of your newly learned concepts to use during the jam session at the end!
Steve has been teaching music since 2005 and has been at Long & McQuade's Lesson Centre in St. John's since 2011. He teaches various instruments including guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin and ukulele. He  has a Bachelor of Music in Classical Guitar Performance from Acadia University.

Introduction to Live Sound with Steve Lilly

This clinic is for musicians who will be setting up the PA before they play, and for techs who will be sitting behind the mixer during the show. Learn to set-up and run a PA system for your band, church or private party. Be more confident with your knowledge of PA equipment and make yourself sound better. Stage monitors, EQ, wireless setup and many other topics will be covered .
Steve is a recording and rental product specialist at Long & McQuade St. John's. He is also a freelance audio engineer with Mountain Fortress Audio. He has worked with CBC, The Banff Centre, Tanglewood Music Centre, The Boston Symphony Orchestra and The Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra. He has a Master of Music - Sound Recording degree from McGill University.

Introduction to Recording with Krisjan Leslie and Sean Harris

Looking to take the plunge into home recording? Don't know where to begin? This clinic will introduce you to the the basics of software/computer based recording. We will look at signal flow and session set up, and why plugins are useful tools and how to use them effectively. There will also be an introduction to compression and EQ, and why they are extremely useful tools for the recording engineer.       
Krisjan and Sean are product specialists with Long & McQuade St. John's. Krisjan is a producer and engineer with his Lab of Chaos, recording The Once, Long Distance Runners and others. Sean is an accomplished musician, singer and engineer.
