Join us as Thayne reviews general care and maintenance for band instruments, covers some good practicing habits for beginning players, and hosts an instrument “petting zoo” for people who have been curious to try out some different instruments but haven't had the chance.

Drum Tuning & Maintenance with Chris Wood

Chris will demystify the drum head selection process by explaining the differences between clear and coated heads, and 1-ply and 2-ply heads. He will also demonstrate different tuning techniques for snare drums, toms and bass drums, and popular muffling techniques for each.

Jordan has been making a name for himself on the Island's music scene since 2009. He has performed and showcased across the Maritimes, received 3 Music PEI Award nominations and a nomination for Folk Album Of The Year at the 2012 ECMAs. Jordan's signature style is simple but big sounds and detailed stories told through his lyrics.

Basic Piano Accompaniment

Simple ways to accompany fiddle music. You will learn simple chords and their inversions, how to play easy runs between chords, and what chords you can use (when you are accompanying fiddle playing in the more common keys).  Demos will be shown on a couple of different types of keyboards - some using the auto accompaniment feature.
