Improving Your Timekeeping and Technique with Darren McClelland and Mike Howarth

In this interactive workshop, experienced L&M drummers Darren McClelland and Mike Howarth will share timekeeping tips that will refine your technique and physical approach to the kit.  Learn to play with sequencers, loops and click tracks with real-time demos featuring electronic drums, drum machines and metronomes. Discussion will also focus on smaller kits and how to make more music with less drums, and an overview of software packages for composing, practicing and sharpening your tracking skills.

Larry Larson, Principal Trumpet of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony and frontman of Larry's Jazz Guys leads this interactive workshop.  Bring your horn as Larry will demonstrate and teach a vocalist approach to the instrument, bringing out the subtlety, dynamics and individualism in your playing.

Drum Clinic with Vito Rezza

Co-sponsored by Pearl, Evans, Paiste and Vic Firth. Artists who have called upon Vito Rezza's virtuosic skill as a percussionist include Joni Mitchell, Gino Vannelli, John Lee Hooker, Michael Brecker, Rick James, Ray Charles, Oscar Peterson, and Joey DeFrancesco, with whom Rezza regularly records and performs. The diverse nature of this star-studded list speaks volumes about Vito's mastery of a wide range of musical genres.  On top of his musical skill sets, Vito is also an accomplished poet, film and television actor, and martial arts expert.  Vito is nearing completion of a book and DVD on life and his philosophy of living with the drum, which he presents in his North American Clinic Tour. This event will include door prizes and giveaways.
