Geoff and Peter will demystify the drum head selection process by explaining the differences between clear and coated heads, and 1-ply and 2-ply heads. They will demonstrate different tuning techniques for snare drums, toms and bass drums, and popular muffling techniques for each. They will also take some time to talk about different types of percussion instruments.

Learn the basics of getting a good sound from your PA. Topics will include:

•  knob demystification
•  speaker placement
•  wiring and hookups

Pedal Power with Dan Chamberlain and Phil Bustard

Looking for that certain “tone” or “effect” but can’t seem to nail it? Are you confused by the endless choices of effects processors out there? Then this presentation is for you! Dan and Phil will provide you with an informative introduction to some of the most popular pedal types and sounds (along with a bit of history on each!) including distortion, overdrive, fuzz, boost, delay, reverb, phaser, chorus and more. You will also learn how to achieve the “classic” sounds, features and benefits of the various effects, signal flow between pedals (order, cabling, etc.), setting up a pedal board, power supplies, effects loops and more.
