Jazz Workshop with Johnny Summers and Chris Andrews - Various Locations
Join two of Canada’s hottest young jazz artists, trumpeter and vocalist Johnny Summers and pianist Chris Andrews. Between performing tunes off their latest award winning album, Piano Sessions Vol. 1, Johnny will be sharing some cutting edge jazz trumpet techniques he has learned from some of the world’s jazz greats. This will be both an inspiring and entertaining workshop you won’t want to miss!
Johnny: Winner of two 2013 Global Music Awards incl. Best Male Vocalist. Singer, trumpeter, composer/arranger and director of the Calgary Jazz Orchestra, Johnny Summers approaches music in a natural way, with stunning musical lines, effortless flexibility and a mature sound. Johnny has been fortunate enough to study/perform with great musicians including Maria Schneider, Jon Faddis, Bobby Shew, Laurie Frink, Dee Daniels, Frankie Valli, Wycliffe Gordon, Patrick Stewart and more.
Chris: Winner of the 2013 Grand Prix du Jazz Montreal, Chris Andrew plays with ingenuity and high acclaimed technical abilities, and produces phenomenally passionate performances that will truly inspire you. Chris has been honoured to share the stage with artists such as Josh Redman, Paquito D’Rivera, Thomas Chapin, Kirk MacDonald, Sunny Fortune, Joe LaBarbera, PJ Perry and Brad Turner.
