The purpose of this presentation is to provide a history of jazz by using archival footage from the masters of the genre. Join jazz buff Jeff Gay from Long & McQuade as we review the evolution of jazz styles while viewing some of the most inspiring performances ever caught on film.

An Introduction to Digital Recording

Long & McQuade staff Ron Huestis and Sean Harris host a great beginner recording clinic, which will cover:
. Basic set up (cabling, stands, mic selection)  . Selecting your interface  . Installing device drivers 
. Setting up software preferences and opening sessions in Pro Tools, Cubase, Logic and Sonar  . Setting up reference monitors and headphone mixes

Guitar Maintenance with Doug Sampson

Guitar technician extraordinaire Doug Sampson will be addressing fundamentals such as guitar stringing, working with locking tremolo systems, string gauges, set-up and intonation. He will also discuss environmental impacts on the guitar, including telltale signs of dryness through the winter months, the effects of home heating and various approaches to humidification.

Bedford's own trombone ambassador Matt Banks and French horn virtuoso Natalie Alcorn (Stadacona Band) will present an overview and demonstration of the various instruments that make up the brass family. Aimed at the enthusiastic beginner, the clinic will explain the nuances and techniques of brass instrument playing and offer a window into the world of the professional brass player.

Featuring new products by Boss, Line 6 and T.C. Electronics, Evan will discuss practical details while Pete demonstrates the musical potential of looping as only The Duke can.
