Reading Sessions - Various Locations

Repertoire selection and ongoing professional development are crucial for all music educators. Your attendance at the 2012 Long & McQuade Reading Clinics is one of the most effective and enjoyable ways of accomplishing this for your school or community program.

Throughout the year, we listen to the needs of teachers, arrangers and composers of today. With this in mind, we select some of the best new repertoire for its educational value, originality and appeal. For a few moments in August 2012, take this opportunity to get new ideas, and get new repertoire before the downbeat of 2012-13!

Pick your new music with thoughts from FJH composer and editor Brian Balmages. Listen and discuss the content from the Long and McQuade 2012 New Issue Favourites book.

Based on teacher feedback, we are going to try something different. Rather than having a live band, Brian will be working from recordings and we'll have plenty of music to look at. While he is here, Brian will also present a session on new warm ups, supplements, and method books from FJH.

There will be no charge for this clinic, but please register in advance with Taryn Mader via email or at (403) 461-5185. Please ensure that you leave summertime contact info when you register so that we can reach you with a reminder and notice of venue!

Long & McQuade Calgary is also planning a fall Jazz event! Stay tuned!
