People of a Feather has been taking Canada by storm, winning numerous awards and reviews, and now you can see it on the big screen in theatres!
Long & McQuade was one of the original sponsors of this project, supporting the moviemakers' interest in new music from remote Canadian communities as far away as the Arctic. The film features an eclectic and powerful soundtrack of Canadian independent music including Tanya Tagaq (Cronos Quartet, Buck 65, Bjork), Cris Derksen, Curtis Andrews, Inuit Hip Hop and even music from a feather! Who knew, Inuit used to play eider feathers, much like a Jew's Harp is played to day. Different size feathers make different pitches. One of the many wonderful things you will discover on this adventure that allows you to explore the Arctic for yourself, with minimal narration and a focus on letting the images and Inuit speak for themselves.
