Friday, March 9 | 6pm - Home Recording Made Easy with Roland’s Dan Doiron
You want to get your song ideas down when inspiration strikes, but you're a songwriter, not a recording engineer, and you keep getting bogged down in the process.  We'll examine the many different methods for recording everything - from simple one track demos to full album projects - with an emphasis on a workflow that works the way that musicians do. Discussion will include proper signal level adjustment, adding effects, mixing and mastering.

Dan Doiron is an accomplished guitar player, songwriter and recording artist in the East Coast scene, and is also the Atlantic Canadian representative for Roland Canada.

Thursday, March 15 | 6pm - Fender Tools of the Trade with Shawn Crockard
If 50 people walked into a workshop totally set up with tools and materials and were asked to make something, chances are that those folks would make something unique from the other people. Fender has been providing the basic tools of popular music for decades…the Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jazz Bass and Precision Bass. We'll take a look at how different people have used those same basic musical tools over the years and created something completely unique.

Shawn Crockard has worked on the wholesale side of the musical instrument and pro audio business since 1993.  He has been spreading the Spirit of Rock 'n' Roll throughout Atlantic Canada on behalf of Fender Musical Instruments since 2007.

Friday, March 16 | 6pm - Drum Recording and Mixing 101 with Sam Patterson
Ever wonder how the pros get that full, rich, perfectly balanced drum sound on big budget recordings? Is it the gear or is it the ear? What are the secrets? Is it even possible in my basement or living room home studio?

Students will learn the fundamentals of mic placement, EQ, gating, reverb and compression through a live mic up, recording and mixdown of a real drummer. Learn the "key" EQ frequencies pertaining to each piece of the drum kit as well as advanced tricks such as "New York Compression" and phase alignment on dual mic'd drums.
