This clinic will provide insight into the many mysteries of proper guitar setup and maintenance, including restringing, truss rod adjustments, setting action, tremolo systems and more. Learn some tips to help keep your guitar in top playing condition.

Saturday, March 3 | 3-5pm - How to Get the Drum Sound You Want
This clinic will demystify the drum head selection process with explanation on the difference between coated and clear heads, and 1-ply and 2-ply heads. Different techniques for snare drums, toms and bass drums will be discussed, and popular muffling techniques for each will be demonstrated.

Saturday, March 10 | 2-4pm - Fingerstyle Guitar Techniques with Don Alder
Learn from and marvel at International Fingerstyle Guitar champion, Don Alder, as he showcases and discusses his unique style of playing that incorporates finger picking with simultaneous percussion on the soundboard to create a wall of sound.

Hosted by some of our Lesson Centre teachers, this clinic will assist anyone interested in taking up a new instrument, or a first instrument. Topics will include help in selecting your first instrument and options available, and the pros and cons of various teaching styles.

A touring/session drummer living in Vancouver, Nick can be heard all over Canadian airwaves. Having played with Hannah Georgas, Dave Vertesi and Stef Lang, Nick is also an instructor at Long & McQuade’s lesson centre. His workshop will focus on practical, "common sense" rudiments applied to the drumset within his dynamic teaching philosophy of the "DUEL" Method.

Thursday, March 1 | 7-9pm - Guitar Maintenance and Setup with Bill Roberts
A crash course on how to correctly evaluate a guitar, common problems and how to spot them. Topics will include intonation, neck relief, nut adjustments, correct action and re-stringing. Bill will be demonstrating the complete setup process from start to finish including tools required for a pro job. Bring your guitar.

Thursday, March 8 | 7-9pm - Drum Primer 101 with Jason Palidwar
Jason will guide you through evaluating the different levels of drums. Topics will include tuning, maintenance, drumhead selection and differences -  information you need to build a proper and personalized drum set-up. Jason will also discuss differences between drum sticks and what will work well with your playing style. Be sure to bring a drum and your sticks.

Danny will guide you through the maze of effects pedals and show you how to build the pedal board of your dreams. Topics will include correct pedal order, how to effectively use an effects loop and how to get the most of your guitar’s tone. Bring along your pedal board.
