Fingerstyle Guitar Clinic and Concert with Duck Baker - Toronto, ON

Long & McQuade is pleased to host a Fingerstyle Clinic and Concert with Duck Baker.

The guitar playing of Duck Baker is a melting pot of American music which encompasses more traditional forms such as blues, gospel, and Appalachian music and its Scots-Irish ancestry, and the history of Jazz from ragtime through to swing and the modern masters.

Since 1976, Duck has recorded 20 solo records (Acoustic Guitar magazine said of his 1997 release, “Spinning Song”, that it was “one of the best guitar records ever recorded – by anybody.”), 9 Duo records, (artists for these projects include Leo Kottke, Molly Andrews, Kieran Fahy, and Jamie Findla), and his music has been chosen to contribute to 19 Anthologies and 4 film soundtracks.

Duck is a very accomplished educator and prolific writer of educational material. He has a firm grasp on both the repertoire, and the playing technique of many styles - from Appalachian to Modern Jazz.

He is also very knowledgeable about the history of American Music. Duck was a long time contributor to CODA Magazine, and his writing has also appeared in Jazz Times, Acoustic Guitar, Guitar Player, Fingerstyle Guitar, Acoustic Musician, Dirty Linen, Old Time Music, Fiddler, The Berkeley Barb, The East Bay Express, and Listener.
