March Break Drum Camp - Halifax, NS

Expand your skills and develop new techniques this March Break at Drum Camp!

Morning classes are in a workshop, hands-on format. Each one-hour session will include some of the following topics:

• Hand Techniques - Rudiments and stick control
• Hand & Feet Coordination - Exercises to improve coordination and develop fill formats
• Odd Time Grooves - Used by the top artists of today
• Funk Drumming - Teaming funk styles from old R & B to today’s funk/fusion techniques
• Ostinatos - Learn what they are and where and when to use them
• How to Groove in Funk and Rock
• Twin Pedal Metal - Double pedal techniques
• Left Foot Clave Playing - Latin drumming techniques
• Drum Chart Interpretation
• Hand Drum Ensemble Playing - Have fun in percussion jam sessions
• Recording on CD - Record yourself to music tracks on CD - great for drummers with no studio experience
• Multiple Time Signatures - Get your hands to play in 3/4 and 4/4 while your feet play in 5. A challenge and not for the faint of heart

Afternoon sessions will give each participant an opportunity to practice and perform with professional musicians. Each afternoon will concentrate on a different genre or style of music.

The class will be led by Drum Master, Al Resk. The camp is geared toward 9 to 13 year old players, but older students are welcome as well.
