Masterclass with Paul Merkelo - St. John's, NL

Long & McQuade, Yamaha Music Canada and Memorial School of Music welcome Paul Merkelo, Principal Trumpet with the Montreal Symphony, to St. John's for a special masterclass.

A performer with the Montreal Symphony since 1995, Paul's previous engagements include that of solo trumpet with the Rochester Philharmonic and the New Orleans Symphony and performing with the New York Philharmonic and the Pittsburg Symphony.

As a soloist, he was also invited to perform with the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, the McGill University Chamber Orchestra, I Musici of montréal, the Rochester Philharmonic, New Orleans Symphony, the Eastman Wind Ensemble, and was a musical ambassador of Canada with the Shanghai Broadcast Orchestra.

Paul is on the faculty of Music at McGill University and in collaboration with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, he has created a scholarship program open to contestants for the annual OSM competition and which awards aspiring young musicians the financial aid necessary for the pursuit of their career in music.
