Sultans of String CD Release Party/Live Concert - Toronto, ON

Long & McQuade is pleased to be a sponsor of Sultans of String's upcoming CD release party and live concert.

Multiple award winning super-group Sultans of String are releasing their stunning new CD, Yalla Yalla, at Trinity St. Paul's Centre on May 29th. This sophomore album weaves a truly global sonic tapestry, influenced by Spanish Flamenco, Arabic folk, Cuban rhythms, jazz, classical and French Manouche Gypsy-jazz music.

Led by 2009 Juno nominee Chris McKhool, Sultans of String are dedicated to educational outreach to young people with the goal of engaging and inspiring young musicians and musicians-to-be across the country. Having just returned from a whirlwind tour in BC, SK, MB and ON performing over 30 adult and family concerts in as many days, the CD release will be an opportunity to reach out to Toronto youth across the GTA.

Sultans of String are putting this in motion in a few ways: first, they chose an all-ages and fully accessible venue in which to present this event. The band has also formed a partnership with eyeGO to the Arts, and will be providing a subsidized $5 ticket price for all high school students from each school board across the city.

Sultans of String will also be providing 10 free tickets to a school in each of the 13 High Priority neighbourhoods as identified by the City of Toronto, totaling 130 complimentary tickets. Last but not least, the band is providing free TTC transportation to and from the event for these students. By providing access to live concert experiences for young people, the band hopes to become part of the fabric of the city that encourages creativity in and safe, expressive outlets for our youth.
