The Mindful Shredder: Guitar Course - North York, ON

The Music Education Centre at Long & McQuade Steeles is pleased to offer The Mindful Shredder, a guitar course with instructor Mark Patterson.

Mark has performed and composed in a variety of styles: Rock, Pop, Metal, Blues, Jazz, and Funk. He is known for his constant pursuit of fresh ideas. His versatility has assisted him in studio/session, touring around the world, theatre and music for TV and Film. Mark has also played with many world-class musicians.

This course was created for the guitarist ready to take his or her playing up a notch.  We will look at “shredding” with a fresh approach by analyzing the styles of top players from present and past such as Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, Eric Johnson, Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, and Paul Gilbert. This course will examine ways to maximize your ideas. Techniques such as Sweep Picking, Hybrid Picking, Tapping, Legato, String Skipping, Alternate and Economy Picking, Tremolo Picking, Intervallics will be used to develop your skills. Also covered are concepts in scales/chord, arpeggios, harmony and rhythm ‘n’ groove.
