Welcome L&M Moncton's Lesson Centre! We have two locations: one at the L&M Moncton store on 245 Carson Drive, and one at the Dieppe Arts & Culture Centre on 331 avenue Acadie, in Dieppe. Ben earned his Bachelor of Arts degree (Major in Music) from Mount Allison University where he took classes on Theory, History, Composition, Analysis, Arranging, Methods and Teaching. He began taking drum lessons at the age of 12 and then took bass and guitar shortly after. He began teaching in 2015 and has been teaching drums, guitar, bass, ukulele, song writing and production techniques all over the maritimes. Ben plays rock, metal, acoustic, fusion and electronica and acts as composer and producer for various musical projects. Ben loves discussing writing techniques, production and advanced music theory concepts. His rates are $25 per half hour session.

Claude obtained a Bachelor of Music in Performance in 1986 from University of Moncton on the classical guitar. He has taught guitar with University of Moncton’s music department, at Moncton Music Centre, La Guitare, and Walter’s Music in Mississauga, ON. Claude is well-versed in classical guitar technique and various finger style guitar playing, such as Mark Knopfler, James Taylor, John Mayer, and Keb’ Mo’. He is also confident in pop, blues, and jazz. With Claude, you will get the most with your journey on guitar with the basics to complex chords, functional guitar theory, and guitar care and maintenance. His rate is $25 per half-hour lesson.

Claudie is currently enrolled in the music education program at the University of Moncton. She has been taking singing lessons since the age of 5. She has participated in regional and provincial music festivals, coming in first place multiple times. Claudie's primary goal as a music teacher is to share her passion for singing with her students, as well as to convey the joy that music brings. One of Claudie's qualities is her openness to the needs and interests of her students. With her experience participating in several classical singing festivals, musicals, and operas, she has the necessary tools to teach various styles of music.

Daniel earned his degree in percussion from Université de Moncton in 2007. He was a member of the university's percussion ensemble under the direction of Michel Deschênes. He is bilingual and has been teaching music since 2009. His rate is $25 per half-hour private lesson.

David was born in Cherbourg, France, and began playing guitar at the age of 14 under the influence of his first teacher, Daniel Cordhomme. At 16, he took Stéphane Fleury's jazz class and enrolled at the municipal music school with Fabrice Paris. After three years of classical guitar studies, he graduated with honors. Wishing to evolve musically, he moved to Paris to perfect his skills in the theory and practice of modern music at the American Jazz School, where he took guitar lessons with Mike O'Neil. The following year, he met Sammy Daussat, with whom he learned gypsy guitar. At the age of 27, he joined the class of Mariapina Roberti (international concert artist), who opened up new musical horizons for him, and with whom he organized a duo concert. David has also performed on Parisian stages such as the Café de Paris and the Chat Noir. His rate is $24 per half-hour for private lessons.

Doug is currently studying for his Bachelors of Education and he has a Bachelor of Music. With studies in many different musical genres such as rock, country, pop, classical and jazz, his knowledge in those areas are significant and will be able to guide you towards your musical goals. Doug teaches guitar, bass guitar, ukulele and music theory (reading the musical staffs, scales, tonalites and rhythm). He loves to practice other instruments such as the alto saxophone, violin, trumpet and drums. He is always enthusiastic and patient when it comes to teaching, and teaches to all ages! ekaterina burakova (Cello, Piano)

Ekaterina started playing the cello at the age of 8. She became an award winning cellist at the young age of 14 when her trio won second place at the international chamber competition “Concertino Praga”. Ekaterina began her teaching career a year later when she was 15. Ekaterina completed her Bachelor’s degree in performance and music education from Belarus Academy of Music and Sarajevo Academy of Music, and went on to complete her Master’s Degree in performance and music education from Belarus Academy of Music. She also holds a Teacher Certificate of Recognition from RCM. Along with teaching, Ekaterina has performed with many orchestra’s such as the Belarus Symphony Orchestra, National Concert Orchestra, Sarajevo Symphony, and others. Ekaterina has been living in New Brunswick since 2011 and has been teaching and performing in the Greater Moncton Area ever since. She has taught all ages and levels, and enjoys having her students participate in the Moncton Music Festival. Her rate is $25 per half-hour.
elisa soucaille (dieppe) (Voice)

Elisa Soucaille has been in the Arts since the age of 3, starting with African dance, then moving into the theatre, to finally choose singing at the age of 7. From the age of 7, she was a chorister in the La Lauzeta children’s choir in Toulouse, where she spent 6 years singing in church, various concert halls, etc. In 2013, she was part of la maîtrise du chœur d’enfants at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse. She was therefore a chorister in great operas such as Carmen, Cavalliera Rusticana, Pagliacci, Turandot, etc. In 2019, she moved to Canada to continue her studies at Université de Moncton, under the direction of Lisa Roy. She then had the chance to play the role of Blanche in the operetta Les mousquetaires au couvent by Varney. She graduated in 2024 with a Bachelor of Music in Performance. Her rate is $24 per half hour lesson.

James has pursued an active career as teacher and collaborative pianist since arriving in Moncton in 2018. He holds a doctorate (D. Mus) in Piano Performance from the Université de Montréal; and studied under teachers Carol McWilliams, Janice Elliot-Denike, Kent McWilliams, Marc Durand, Maneli Pirzadeh and Jean Saulnier. He enjoys teaching students of all ages and is committed to helping students achieve personal goals at the piano as well as prepare for exams (RCM) and competitions. Jonah Landry (he/him) has been involved in and has shown his passion for the local music scene ever since he can remember. Whether it’s playing rock/folk drums in John Jerome and the Congregation (Moncton) or fast double bass techniques in Necrohol (Halifax), he has the tools to teach many genres across the board such as pop, rock, folk, metal, and introductory blues and jazz. When he’s not teaching or playing locally, you can find him working on local music videos (nominated for 4 MusicNB Video of the Year Awards) and working behind his camera! Jonah’s goal is to give back to the local music scene that has given so much to him growing up.

Luc has been teaching acoustic and electric guitar since 2003. Luc has been very involved in the music scene as a promoter. He is the founder, manager, and songwriter of Moncton's premiere metal act Dischord. Mason Wilkins has been performing around the province since he turned 19 years old. Originally a guitarist since he was 12, he switched to the bass and has played with many bands since. Passionate for the craft, he’ll teach you all the fundamentals and some advanced concepts for guitar and bass, he’s also available for beginner piano lessons, and can mix in vocals with any lesson! With a natural ear for music, Mason can hop into any musical setting and fit right in with any band. In less than a week’s notice, he filled in for a show in Miramichi with Truce, who were nominated for the East Coast Music Association Loud Recording of the Year Award. He has also performed with Sam Hudson, who was nominated for Music NB video of the year with his track “Icarus.” Mason's rate is $25 per half-hour lesson.

Mélanie Caissie is a voice and piano teacher and performer with over 20 years in the industry. She received her Bachelor of Music in vocal performance at the University of Toronto and has her grade 9 RCM in piano. Mélanie has worked as a classical soloist for churches in Toronto and enjoyed being a freelance performing and recording vocalist in a variety of engagements. She has prepared many students in voice and piano for recitals, festival competitions, university auditions and professional gigs. She has a passion in sharing her love of music with her students. She teaches well-rounded lessons by incorporating performance technique, ear training, theory, improvisation, and musical games for the little ones. Naomi started playing music as a young child and has always been passionate about sharing the beauty of music through both performance and teaching. She has been an active performer across New Brunswick and Canada from an early age, winning awards such as National Music Festival Grand Award (2017) and the NYO Award of Excellence (2019-20). Naomi earned her Bachelor of Music focusing on flute performance from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, and has performed and toured with ensembles such as NYO Canada, the Curtis Symphony Orchestra, and Symphony NB. She loves watching music transform people’s lives and helping others learn to express themselves through playing their instruments. Naomi's rate is $26 per half-hour lesson.
nhat-viet phi (dieppe) (Piano)

Nhat-Viet (Toto) Phi began playing solo piano at age six, and has enjoyed a long history of success in Canadian music festivals starting even before his national first prize at age eleven. In addition to headlining with several Canadian orchestras and chamber music with his brothers, he has been praised for his wide-ranging collaborative talents across the nation in vocal, choral, string, woodwind, brass and percussion disciplines. From 2007-2019, Toto was the official accompanist for the University of Moncton music department. Since 1990, Mr. Phi has enjoyed teaching piano privately for all ages and all levels including ARCT, in English and French.

Pierre Deschênes is originally a self-taught guitarist who played his favorite bands like AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Iron Maiden, etc. He started playing at 12 years old knowing he wanted to play since early childhood. He went through high school playing with his friends with similar tastes in music but also different ones, and here he discovered jazz, blues, and classical music. In 2018, he enrolled in Université de Moncton to study classical music. Since then, he refined his skills on guitar and gained knowledge in theory, composition and sight reading. But one of the skills he did not expect to learn is teaching. It is something he loved and now wants to share his love for music with everyone! His rate is $24 per half-hour lesson.
rebecca ann coghlin (dieppe & moncton) (Violin, Piano)

Rebecca began learning the piano at the age of 4 from her mother. She continued learning piano, taking lessons from her brother James, as well as Carol McWilliams, Nariaki Sugiura, and David McIntyre throughout high school and into University. She started learning the violin when she was 10 and considers this her natural instrument. She took violin lessons from Oxana Ossiptchuk, Audrey Sproule, Alejandro Drago, and Dr. Howard Leyton-Brown. She played both piano and violin in Saskatchewan local and provincial music festivals and worked on completing RCM exams in both instruments as well. Currently, she is completing a music therapy internship with UBMusic-que Therapy Services in Moncton and aims on becoming a Certified Music Therapist. She has adopted a therapeutic approach to teaching, and aims to create a safe space for her students while they are learning their instrument. She aims at making her lessons fun and engaging, and loves to get to know her students while they are developing their musical skills in either violin or piano. She has knowledge in classical music, but is open to developing her knowledge in other genres as well! Rebecca’s rate is $25 per half-hour lesson.

Sandra has been teaching since 2012. She teaches classical as well as traditional (fiddle, various styles), but is open to any style that can be accommodated within the curriculum and the students’ current level. Her musical journey took her from classical training in Germany to playing traditional music after moving to Canada in 2001, where she developed a great love for Cape Breton and Appalachian Oldtime music. Savana Daigle is currently a student at Université de Moncton in the Musical Education program. At the age of 7, Savana fell in love with music and she wishes to bring that same feeling to her students. Having taught students since his third year at the university, he has also been playing with various groups and tackling all styles, notably The Moncton Mingus Band, which specializes in jazz improvisation. Born and raised in Sofia, Bulgaria, Valentin started taking lessons at the young age of 4. Bulgaria is well known for excellence in musical education, and Valentin benefited greatly from some of Europe’s finest musicians. Valentin received a diploma from the “Académie Supérieure de Musique de Sofia.” Throughout his 40 years career, Valentin has taken part in many orchestras, including L’orchestre de l’Académie Supérieure de Musique de Sofia, Symphony Orchestra of Rome etc. He was a music professor at the National Academy of Music in Tunisia and the Conservatory of Tunisia. He is an excellent teacher with over 45 years experience teaching in all levels. Valentin's rate is $25 per half-hour private lesson.

Yanick earned his Masters degree at Université de Montréal in 2008 specializing in classical guitar. He has been teaching music since 2006 and has always had a great passion for musical education. Yanick has played guitar since the age of 11 and hasn't stopped learning and playing since. His style of music is very global and he is comfortable teaching most music styles. In the classical music category, so far, nine gold medals from the Royal Conservatory of Music have been earned under his guidance. He also got Platinum in Moncton Community Votes 2022 for the Music Lessons category, and “Silver” in the 2023 votes for the Youth Music Lessons category. Yanick will be happy to teach you how to play guitar, bass or ukulele. His rates are $25 per half hour private lesson.
Our Group Lessons:
Baby Beats is our group baby class for babies ages 6-24 months. Babies will be introduced to basic music concepts by playing and interacting with musical instruments; parents/guardians are expected to stay in the class with their child. The class is on Saturdays at 10:30am and is 45 minutes long. There will not be classes on October 12 or November 9 for the long weekends. Mini Maestros - Savana Daigle

Mini Maestros is our group toddler class for children ages 2-4 years old! This class introduces music concepts using a structured play-based approach; parents/guardians are expected to stay in the class with their child. Students will interact with music through listening, dancing, and playing instruments to develop basic musical skills. The class will be on Saturdays at 2pm and is 45 minutes long.
