Annie was classically trained through the ABRSM, Kawai, and Technics programs and received her BMUS from National Taiwan University. Annie believes in building a relationship with every student and customizing lessons according to his or her personality and musical goals. She is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Her rate is $28 per half hour.
anthony kelly (Guitar, Bass, Ukulele)

Anthony Kelly studied at VCC Bachelor of Applied Music program as a classical guitar major and jazz/contemporary guitar minor. Anthony has also studied guitar under Canadian virtuoso guitarist and music producer, Dave Martone, where his primary focus has been in instrumental rock guitar of the likes of Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and fusion guitarist Greg Howe. Anthony is also influenced by Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), and Brian May (Queen) with newer influences by as Yngwie Malmsteen, and Paul Gilbert. His rate is $28 per half hour lesson.
ben lockwood (Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone)

Ben Lockwood studied music theory, performance psychology, composition and arranging at the Dartington College of Arts, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts with Honours-Music (Performance). He has performed professionally on flute, saxophone and clarinet in the United Kingdom and internationally. He has taught students of all age groups and experience levels in both private and school settings. His students are consistently successful at exams, with some having gone onto study music at notable institutions such as the Royal Academy of Music in London, and the Leeds Royal School of Music. His rate is $28 per half hour.
geoffrey chan (Trumpet, Trombone, Clarinet, Oboe, French Horn)

Geoffrey taught in schools and society groups for many years in Hong Kong. He passed his band sergeant major course at Kellner Hall RMSM in the United Kingdom. After immigrating to BC he played for a number of years with the Navy Reserve and Association band. His rate is $28 per half hour.
jack zhou (Guitar, Bass, Ukulele)

Jack Zhou is a contemporary guitarist who studied guitar performance at Musicians Institute, as well as composition at Berklee College of Music. He is sophisticated in rock, blues, pop, improvisation, neoclassical, songwriting, and music theory. He has also studied under some of the greatest musicians in the world; Dave Martone, Paul Gilbert, Tony MacAlpine. He released his first solo instrumental album in 2018 and it has received many positive reviews. Jack has also collaborated with other artists/bands; 'Beyond the Root' and 'Ashes and Afterglow'. Jack is able to teach students of all ages and skill levels in guitar, bass & ukulele. He is fluent in English and Mandarin. His rate is $28 per half hour.
jessica mclaughlin (Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute)

Jessica is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist specializing in woodwinds. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Performance from the University of Calgary and has begun work on her Masters. In 2012 she received several gold certificates for the performance of solo works at the Kiwanis Music Festival in Calgary. Jessica has taught private lessons and coached ensembles for 5 years. She performs regularly in ensembles ranging from small chamber groups to big bands, wind ensembles and pit orchestras. Her goal is to inspire students to play and encourage constant learning. Her rate is $28 per half hour.

Kai Basanta is a highly versatile and intuitive drummer with over a decade of experience performing and recording with a diverse range of artists. A passionate improviser and music producer, he is committed to constantly learning and developing new techniques and approaches to music. Known for bringing creativity, energy, and a unique artistic vision to every project, Kai is also a natural mentor and teacher, dedicated to inspiring and nurturing young musicians whenever possible. His rate is $ 28 per half hour.
lesley law (Piano, Guitar, Bass, Theory, History, DJ)

Lesley is a musician, producer, songwriter and DJ. She obtained her Associate of the Royal College of Teachers in Piano Performance at age 17 and attended Capilano University on scholarship where she studied classical and jazz piano, classical guitar and jazz bass. She is also a certified Bass Specialist from Berklee College of Music. She produces and performs with various R&B Hip Hop artists in Vancouver and Los Angeles. She teaches piano, guitar, bass, ukulele, theory, history and DJ and her students do very well in their RCM exams as well as university auditions. She provides instruction in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Her rate is $29 per half hour.
lillian chan (Piano, Theory, Harmony)

Lillian has a degree from UBC, holds a Piano Performance Licentiate Diploma from Trinity College of Music in London, is qualified to teach the Kelly Kirby Kindergarten Method & TMA programs, and successfully completed the Music Together Teacher Training workshop developed by the Center for Music and Young Children, Princeton, New Jersey. She volunteers as coordinator of the Richmond Music Festival Society, where she accompanies and also adjudicates for the music festival. Lillian is also a member of the BC Registered Music Teachers’ Association Richmond Branch, Canadian Federation Music Teachers’ Association & Canadian Music Teachers’ Association. She is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. Her rate is $30 per half hour.
maria goobar (Voice, Piano)

Maria graduated from the Buenos Aires Conservatory of Music where she also got a degree as a Choir and Orchestra Conductor. She has won awards both as a singer and as a choir director. Since 1998 she’s enjoyed teaching students of all levels the proper technique to sing pop, rock and classical music and her rate is $28 per half hour.
matthew mcphalen (Cello)

Matthew McPhalen holds a Bachelor of Music Degree specializing in cello performance from the University of British Columbia where he studied with Eric Wilson. He then completed his Master of Music Degree at the University of Calgary, where he studied with John Kadz and Johanne Perron. While in Calgary he also spent four years in the Advanced Performance Program at Mount Royal University Conservatory. Matthew has frequently attended summer sessions at Domaine Forget and the Orford Arts Centre in Quebec where he had the privilege to learn from artists such as Lynn Harrell and Raphael Wallfisch. He has played in many types of ensembles including symphony orchestras, quartets, piano trios, contemporary ensembles and early music ensembles. Matthew enjoys teaching students of all ages and ability levels and enjoys helping students develop their technique and interpretation skills. His rate is $28 per half hour.

Morgan Young has been classically trained in guitar and piano through the RCM curriculum and is on her way to achieving her ARCT. Morgan studied under Darren Young at Mount Royal University in Calgary & obtained a Music Production & Sound Engineering Diploma from Nimbus in Vancouver. She has been teaching for 5 years and works with all age groups. Morgan believes in building a relationship with each student and catering the lessons to their goals and personality. She performs with an all girl band and her influences come from indie rock, rock, metal, and jazz. She teachers guitar, piano, bass, ukulele, and theory. Her rate is $28 per half hour.

Neil has performed and taught throughout Western Canada and Internationally both as a pianist and a percussionist. Currently, Neil composes and arranges for his own Jazz Quartet, The Neil Gray Quartet, and teaches both privately and in the public education system. His rate is $28 per half hour.
peter chotem (Guitar, Bass, Ukulele)

Peter is a guitarist-composer who studied music in Montreal at McGill and Concordia universities. Since 1999 he has taught many different styles of guitar to students of all ages in the Richmond-Vancouver area. Peter performs and records with his brother Tony in the guitar duo Double Helix. They have recently completed tours of Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec, and the BC interior. His rate is $28 per half hour.
thomas redant (Piano, Voice, Theory)

Born and raised in Regina, SK, Thomas Redant is thrilled to be working in the vibrant music and theatre community of the Greater Vancouver Area. As a pianist, Thomas has over two decades of experience ranging from RCM to musical theatre accompaniment and direction to simply gigging with whatever rock band needs a keyboard player. Vocal credits include Fiddler on the Roof (Tevye), City of Angels (Angel City 4 Baritone), 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Mitch Mahoney), Sunday in the Park with George (Boatman), Heathers: The Musical (Ram/Bill Sweeney), American Idiot: The Musical (Theo), and Godspell (Jeffrey), on top of having been in the original Cross Canada Barbershop Chorus and has toured with Saskatchewan Express. Thomas offers
lessons in piano, voice, and RCM theory (beginner to advanced). His rate is $28 per half hour.
timothy horan (Drums)

Timothy Horan is a multi-instrumentalist who has played and studied music since the age of four. His playing draws from a variety of styles including: rock, hip hop, funk, metal, pop, jazz, and R&B. Using a positive attitude and nuanced approach to playing in a variety of styles, Tim seeks to bring a fun musical experience that caters to the individual student. His rate is $28 per half hour.
yves wang (Violin)

Yves holds a BA in Music from the University of Chinese Culture Taipei, and a Master Degree of Music from the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He has over 35 years of experience in teaching, and conducting Symphony Orchestras. He is a passionate and dedicated instructor and can help students pass RCM exams. He is fluent in English, Mandarin, and German. His rate is $28 per half hour.
