The Modern Eagle V is an innovative instrument that delivers highly musical tones for recording and live performance. Utilizing a hum/single/hum (five-coil) pickup arrangement and unique electronics, the Modern Eagle V gives players a wide range of tones in a single guitar. The 5-position blade switch selects the pickups into intuitive groups: treble, treble and mid, mid, mid and low, and low. There is a single volume and a push/pull tone control that activates both humbuckers when engaged; this allows players to access all three pickups simultaneously. Finally, mini-switches allow players to tap the humbucker coils individually, for additional single tones. This electronic design puts a whole host of classic and new tones at their fingertips.
Additional features include a maple top and mahogany back, 22-fret, 25-inch scale length, Pattern mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, bone nut and PRS patented Gen III tremolo.
For 2024, PRS Guitars is updating the tuners on several of its Core guitars. While their new Wing buttons are aesthetically designed to echo the bird’s wingspan design at the 12th fret, they were first and foremost designed for tonal reasons back in 1982. Because these buttons are lighter than their metal predecessors, they remove less energy from the vibrating strings, allowing the guitar to sound longer and more musically.
