Tube and solid-state, vintage and modern, clean and dirty-the new VR Series combo amplifiers have it all. Using our proven and popular VOX Valve Reactor (VR) circuitry, the AC30VR provides a diverse soundscape of authentic and satisfying tones from a single amp.

The Models

AC30VR: Twin channel, guitar amplifier with 2x 12 inch VX 12 Celestion, custom made loudspeaker and digital reverb.
Play in Style
Using an "old-school" split-panel design, the AC30VR offers two distinct channels - Normal and Overdrive - with the Overdrive channel adding a separate Gain knob. In addition, the overdrive Style button delivers two distinctive flavours.

In Control
Equipped with two, custom-designed 12" Celestion speakers, the AC30VR delivers a roaring 30 watts of power. The Normal channel offers both Bass and Treble tone controls, along with a single Volume knob. A Gain knob has been added to the Overdrive channel, as well as a Middle control for more defined tone shaping. In the Master section, the AC30VR features our unique Tone Cut circuit knob for dampening the high-end frequencies. Master Reverb and Master Volume controls are also provided.

Back for More
The AC30VR's back panel features an external speaker jack for use with an 8 ohm extension cabinet. Using an extension cabinet will mute the internal speaker. Also provided is a jack for the optional VOX VFS2 dual footswitch, which offers hands-free channel-switching and reverb on/off action.

This is a great guitar amp! I have had it for about a year now and I love it. One of the only things that I dislike is that there is not and effects end. So any timed effects don't sound very nice. But it has a great clean sound and a super great sounding distortion option. I recommend this amp for anyone looking for a combo for a great price. The thing that I love about it is that you don't have to crank the amp to get a nice distorted sound. This amp can also be very loud if you want it to be loud.

this amp has great tone. Of course, it's a vox. That's why I bought it. However it has a MAJOR flaw. There is a half - one full second of sound drop out when switching channels. This is not a defect, this is a feature of the amp. I contacted vox and they confirmed it. Deal-breaker! Also it didn't handle pedals very well.

I got this amp around Christmas of 2011, I've been pluggin in with a MIM Fender Strat and a 1980's Aria CS-250 and I have to say this amp is a great value. It's sound is up there with higher end Orange amps and other Valve Reactor amps. It was the first amp I have ever purchased and hopefully one day I can upgrade to the tube version of this amp (to all beginners: it does matter- if you can, get the tube amp!!!). :)

I had my doubts when I first read about these new affordable vintage AC30 looking combo amps, so I had one sent in to the nearest l&m shop to try out for myself. I had my eye on the the original all tube AC30 top boost amp up to this point, but when I plugged in the AC30VR and played around with the settings I must say I was pleasantly surprised to hear some great vox tones! Not to say they were exact, but close enough for my 25+ years of playing experience. And the volume was surprisingly louder than i would have thought. Not as loud as the tube version but loud enough to handle my needs. The added bonus are:1.)it doesn't weigh near that of the all tube models. 2.)It also has the added o.d. Selector on the lead channel which gives the option of a top boost drive feel, or switch it up to a more highgain (hard rock/metal)vibe which is not an option on the all tube versions. 3.)they have the same body stylings of the tube versions. 4.)Not to mention the price difference. One must remember that this is not an all tube combo amp , but as a musician who plays on the weekends and occasional jams at friends, I care not to break my back or wallet on the heavier more expensive tube version. Also consider the extra costs in replacing tubes and handeling and transporting tube amps. I have been using my AC30VR for over a year now and have not regretted getting it at all. I am thinking of getting a second one to run them in stereo!

I personally love the sound, when i first got it i thought it sounded tinny but once you get used to it, the amp really warms up and has an amazing sound!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
