Barbara Lorenz moved to Calgary from Lloydminster, Alberta where she was Woodwind Instructor for Lakeland College teaching Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Oboe and Bassoon, as well as theory. She was also teaching Grade 6 band for the Lloydminster Public School Division. Barbara graduated from Dickinson State University with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education and a Bachelor of Arts.
Playing in Saxophone quartets, Jazz ensembles, and Concert Bands have been a large part of her musical career. She is currently very active, playing in a duo throughout the Calgary area.
Barbara has been offering lessons in Calgary at L&M since 2013. Her rate is $31 per half hour.

Ophelia is an experienced pianist and teacher, classically trained in the Royal Conservatory of Music. She believes music education is an integral part of human development, and works with students in meaningful collaborative relationships that will result in student-led joyful learning and growth. This includes building a strong technical foundation, theory education, encouragement and practical at home practice strategies, providing positive performance opportunities for each student, and working with each student's unique strengths and learning styles. Ophelia enjoys working with students of all ages and abilities and helping students achieve their musical goals. Ophelia has been offering lessons in Calgary at L&M since 2024. Her rate is $31 per half hour.

takafumi tan (Violin)

Takafumi Tan got his Bachelor of Arts and Science degree (Major in Music, minor in Mathematics) from the University of Lethbridge. He has more than 20 years of violin and piano training with performance from The Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) and received the Provincial medals for Level 4 (2003) and Level 6 (2005) in violin RCM examination. He has played in symphonies in both Japan and Lethbridge Canada. He has also taught violin and piano in various music schools and privately in Lethbridge and Calgary. Takafumi has been offering lessons in Calgary at L&M since 2023. His rate is $31 per half hour.
