Growing up in a family of musicians, including the Juno Award winning Canadian country trio The Mercey Brothers, Mike has dedicated his life to the art of music. He attended Humber College for percussion and is currently studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Previously, he was the songwriter, lead guitarist and singer in The Sourkeys, who were featured on CBC Radio and toured North America. Mike teaches guitar, bass, and ukulele and is well versed in production, mixing and engineering. Mike is a very creative and patient instructor with 15 years of experience in music instruction. He teaches all abilities and styles of music!

Pianiste pour chanteurs avec des tournées en Europe, organisatrice de concerts, juge pour secondaire et cégep en spectacle et directrice de chœurs, elle porte aussi plusieurs chapeaux en amenant des amateurs de tous milieux à se commettre sur scène.

Mitch has been teaching guitar since 2002. He’s a graduate of the Red Deer College music program, has studied classical guitar through the Royal Conservatory of Music (3 time Gold Medalist for levels 7, 8, and 9), and has a Diploma in Jazz Performance from the London College of Music. He has studied with some of Edmonton’s finest instructors, and in L.A. with Greg Howe (a touring guitarist for Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake). Mitch enjoys, and has experience teaching various styles ranging from classical music to metal. His has completed the Suzuki Guitar Volumes 1-4 and Suzuki Principles in Action courses. Mitch teaches guitar and bass guitar lessons at our Edmonton South location.

Monika Kowalczuk (Piano) Registration Request
Monika Kowalczuk is an active musician, instructor and performer for special occasions. She earned her BA in Music at the King’s College in Edmonton. With 20 years of training and teaching experience, she has been exposed to various styles and genres of music. She is involved in piano, harp, organ, voice, theory, ear training, harmony, choral music, various forms of dance, including ballroom, theatre, leading and attending workshops, planning and organizing events and performances. Some of her performances have been seen at the Jubilee Auditorium, Winspear, and Royal Alberta Museum. She has expanded to teach group classes with the Yamaha program and is constantly acquiring new techniques and approaches to expose students of all ages to the various aspects of music. As a teacher she strives to be kind, patient, creative, imaginative, fun loving and is committed to having each student excel in their best possible way, whether for an exam, recital or for personal knowledge and enjoyment. Morgan Young has been classically trained in guitar and piano through the RCM curriculum and is on her way to achieving her ARCT. Morgan studied under Darren Young at Mount Royal University in Calgary & obtained a Music Production & Sound Engineering Diploma from Nimbus in Vancouver. She has been teaching for 5 years and works with all age groups. Morgan believes in building a relationship with each student and catering the lessons to their goals and personality. She performs with an all girl band and her influences come from indie rock, rock, metal, and jazz. She teachers guitar, piano, bass, ukulele, and theory. Her rate is $28 per half hour.

She has sung opera at Dal, is currently the soprano soloist at First Baptist Church, and has put out a contemporary CD called Johari Window. Nate is an active member of the Ottawa music scene with over a decade of experience performing in multiple genres. He plays regularly as a session musician, with his progressive metal group The Aphelion as well as in Blues Rock band Crunchy Flower.
As a teacher, he places a strong emphasis on technique and establishing a foundation from which students can grow and feel comfortable in numerous musical situations. Nate strives to instill in his students the same passion he has for playing, with personalized lessons tailored to how an individual student learns, practical advice from his own playing history, and dedicated instruction.

Nathaniel Sergeant has played piano for over 20 years and taught privately for 5 years and completed his Grade 10 Royal Conservatory exam. He returned to his hometown of Fredericton in 2016, where he has focused on teaching piano, providing choral and instrumental accompaniment, and offering solo entertainment for events including weddings and regular recitals at retirement homes. Nathaniel firmly believes that music is a journey unique to every individual and in his lessons he encourages his students to express themselves through music by learning in a way that is creative and has special meaning to them. Nelson Collins - Lee (Drums) Registration Request
Nelson Collins-Lee is a Canadian drummer, based in Edmonton, Alberta. He plays an eclectic variety of styles (jazz, rock, metal, afro-Caribbean etc.) and has a detailed yet relaxed and student orientated approach to teaching. After completing his diploma in drum set performance at MacEwan University and spending an additional year of jazz studies at the University of North Texas, he has spent the past five years teaching private lessons, performing with bands and continuing to learn. Currently he plays with the bands Red Litmus, All Else Fails, Morewine, Pike and the 21st Agenda. Nelson also takes on various freelance gigs and recording sessions and made his musical theatre debut in the fall of 2016 when he played WS “Fluke” Holland in the Citadel Theatre’s production of the Million Dollar Quartet. Nhat-Viet (Toto) Phi began playing solo piano at age six, and has enjoyed a long history of success in Canadian music festivals starting even before his national first prize at age eleven. In addition to headlining with several Canadian orchestras and chamber music with his brothers, he has been praised for his wide-ranging collaborative talents across the nation in vocal, choral, string, woodwind, brass and percussion disciplines. From 2007-2019, Toto was the official accompanist for the University of Moncton music department. Since 1990, Mr. Phi has enjoyed teaching piano privately for all ages and all levels including ARCT, in English and French. His rate is $26 per half-hour lesson.

A multi-instrumentalist, Nick started making music on the drums at the age of 8 years old, eventually picking up the guitar and began learning finger picking and classical. By age of 14, Nick landed his first gig and by 19 was playing gigs across NB, as well as teaching full time. In 2012 Nick met, was mentored, and managed by CCMA award winning guitarist and co-founder of Tom Cochrane & Red Rider Kenny Greer. In 2014, Nick recorded Tom Cochranes' new album “Take it Home” and the following year set out on a Canadian wide tour with them.
