Katherine holds a Bachelor of Music degree and Diploma in Elementary and Secondary Music Education from McGill University. She has been teaching piano to students from ages 5 to 85 in Victoria, BC for the past twenty two years. She approaches students with an inherent belief in their abilities, and loves helping them develop their skills and discover their own potential. Katherine has been playing piano since she could walk, when she was first taught by her mother. Raised in a musical household, Katherine was always drawn to music, and it has found a special place in her heart. She focused on classical training through the Royal Conservatory Repertoire and exams. She was honoured to receive not one, but two Gold Medals for the highest exam marks in Alberta for her Level 6 & 7 RCM exams. Katherine holds her RCM Level 10 Certification, and is planning to complete pedagogy training through the Royal Conservatory. Katherine has over three years of teaching experience, working with all kinds of students, including those with special needs. Katherine loves helping students discover the joy of music and fostering a deep love for music with every student. She strives to create personalized lessons for students' individual needs that help them reach their goals and beyond!

Kathrin Welte holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Mount Allison University and a Masters of Music in Solo Vocal Performance from McGill University. Kathrin’s student-centered teaching approach draws on many techniques, teaching methods and a vast practical background in order to promote development in her students while keeping the joy of music forefront to their experience. Over the course of her 15 year career, she has kept up to date with new teaching methods and is a registered music teacher with the NBRMTA. Katie has studied a variety of genres in both piano and voice, as well as music theory, composition, and performance. After working her way through the Royal Conservatory of Music, she attended Mount Allison University as a Piano Major in the Bachelor of Music Program. She later transferred to Nova Scotia Community College and completed the Music Arts Program as a Vocal Major, specializing in jazz, blues, folk and pop music. She has had the opportunity to perform on various stages, including The Marquee Ballroom, The Fredericton Play House, Saint John City Boardwalk, and CBC Radio. Her lessons are a happy blend of fundamental theory and feel-good music, which promise to be creative, entertaining and educational at all times! Her rate for a half-hour private lesson is $26.

Kayla is a freelance musician with over twenty years of experience performing, training and competing in piano and voice. Kayla has been teaching since 2008 and enjoys working with both youth and adults. Kayla believes everyone can and should find their voice. Beginners (who are terrified) are her specialty! Kayla has worked with The Rock and Roll Society of Edmonton (Edmonton Rockfest) as an instructor for their Centre of Arts and Music program since 2015. Specializing in Pop and Rock, Kayla is passionate about all genres of music and singing styles. As a singer in Edmonton’s The Bobby Tenderloin Universe, she had the privilege of opening for Orville Peck on his American tour in 2019. Kayla graduated from Acadia University in 2021 with a Bachelors of Music Therapy degree and is now a practicing Music Therapist in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

While studying at Acadia, Kayla majored in voice focusing on classical performance and vocal technique. She enjoys all types of music and has experience singing a variety of genres.

Kayla has previous experience teaching privately and is currently offering voice lessons at Long and McQuade St John on Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays. Her rate is $26 for a half hour.

An avid collaborator, Keenan is fascinated by the interdisciplinary collaborative process. This includes working with graphic scores, scoring for video games, and more. Born into a family of musicians, Kieran has been surrounded by music his entire life. When it came time to make the "career choice," there really wasn't any other option. Kieran graduated in 2020 from Brandon University with a Bachelor's of Music Degree in Jazz Performance (drum set) with distinction, and as member of the Dean's list. Through his four years at BU, he had the opportunity to learn from and work with some brilliant musical minds, and through those experiences gained invaluable knowledge about the language of music and what it really means to play music with other people - along with everything else that comes with a music degree. Kieran has been a private drum set instructor and clinician for the last 7 years and has worked with students of all ages and skill levels. His goal as an instructor is to encourage musical growth while maintaining the impetus of why we play music in the first place - music is fun and it can take us to a place that nothing else does.

Kieran teaches at both our Henderson and Pembina locations, and his lesson rate is $28/half hour.

Kimberlee had her first piano lesson at the age of 5 with the RCM program and decided to pursue music teaching as a career. She has her ARCT performance certificate, and has been a member of the BCRMTA since 2000. Kristine Beer has her Grade 9 Royal Conservatory Piano and holds a Distinguished Teacher/Examiner Award in popular piano teaching. She is a professional accompanist for vocalists and instrumentalists, and has over thirty-five years of teaching experience. She is an examiner, clinician, adjudicator, and has trained many piano teachers. She has co-written and piloted programs for pre-school children and primary piano students. She also enjoys performing and is currently the church pianist at St. James United Church. Kristine specializes in group instruction and teaching young beginners, as well as preparing senior students for examinations and music festivals. Kristine teaches piano at the Regina store. Her rate is $29 per half-hour.

Versatile guitarist and vocalist Kyle Cobb is a teacher and performer in Winnipeg, Manitoba. With his personal style rooted in Jazz and American Music, Kyle has pursued his performance degree in Jazz Studies at the University of Manitoba. During his time at the University of Manitoba Kyle studied with many world class musicians (Karly Epp, Jon Gordon, Fabio Ragnelli) and in his first year performed and recorded with the director of his faculty. Kyle has held the guitar chair with many of Winnipeg's best musicians (Julian Bradford, Zachary Rushing, Jared Beckstead) and has worked extensively leading his own band as a vocalist. Kyle is a dedicated educator with nearly a decade of teaching experience and is always seeking to enhance his lessons. Constantly pursuing new musical heights, Kyle is an engaging presence to his peers, his audience, and his students alike. Kyle teaches guitar and voice lessons at our Winnipeg (Pembina) location.

Kyle has studied guitar and music theory since 2008 with Vic Mullen, who also taught him banjo for two years. Kyle has extensive experience as a touring bluegrass musician. In 2012 he was nominated for guitar and banjo player of the year at the Eastern Canada Bluegrass Music Awards.
Kyle taught for eight years with the Clare Bluegrass Association. He has been teaching at Long & McQuade since 2015. Kyle teaches guitar, bass, banjo and mandolin at the Grande Prairie store and his rate is $30 per half-hour.
