Product Experience I've tried it
Closest Store Toronto (Bloor St.), Ontario
I bought it after testing it out in the store and loving it but a couple weeks later it got a buzzing sound when I played certain notes. I brought it back hoping to swap it out for the same one and the two others I tried all did the same thing and the store clerk told me it was a problem with this type. It makes a nice sound if you can find one without the buzzing sound but even then it might come later.

I bought this about 3 years ago, in hopes to write happier tunes. I ended up writing one of the most depressing songs of my career. But, only a real instrument can do that.
It sounds great, plays well, stays in tune for years, and this little dude can take a beating.
If you're looking for a Ukulele, this is it.

I love this ukulele. It was the first ukulele that I purchased and I learned to play on. My only "downside' per-se would be that over the last year (I purchased it last spring), when playing chords on the first fret, it can sound a bit "buzzy" or "raspy". I was told that I can just take it in to be fixed though. Great Luke though! Id recommend purchasing a case for it as it does not come with one!

Despite my rating it 4.5 on features and value, this uke is a 5... I love my Kala! The sound/tone this uke puts out is absolutely fantastic. This is not my first entry level uke as I've gone through several in the $40-75 dollar range, but despite being the pricier of the bunch coming in at the $100 dollar range I have no regrets. The 4.5 on F and V was due to open gear tuners and lack of case for the price point, but after playing it and comparing it to the others it was a no-brainer and wish I had gone with this Kala my first time out. I hope my review helps anyone out there on the fence about spending the few extra bucks on a entry uke. Cheers!

I bought this ukulele today, and after playing it for roughly three hours today overall, yes my fingers do hurt but I've never played a string instrument and I've never picked up something so easily in my life! Quality and sound is great and perfect for my little fingers to manage

After researching ukuleles in search of the best mix of value for money and quality, this is the one I decided on. It has a bright yet warm sound, great volume, resonant low notes, and is both well made and lovely to play. I'm thrilled with the KA-S.

Good ukulele but I wish the staff check their item before selling them. They gave me the display model, though they still have new stocks. Tuning pegs gets wobbly and now it is just sitting in the corner. Unsatisfied customer here.

Very nice craftsmanship, good intonation, low action, sweet sound. It comes with Nubone saddle and nut, and Aquila strings. What more can you ask for! Definitely a great value for a ukulele costing less that $100.

I had read many reviews for ukulele's online and was debating on where to get one and what kind. After reading many reviews I decided on this one. When I asked for this model at the store the sales person brought it out and said what a good uke it was! I bought it and within two days I could play full songs you hear on the raido with ease. The only musical experience I have is violin for 3 years. This uke sounds great, is easy to play and dosent break the bank. With uke's you get what you pay for and this one is completly worth it!

Many of these "low end" ukes sound terrible but not so for this ukulele. Great sound, intonation and loud for a soprano. The only cons I have is that the sharpness of the white binding, digs into your strumming arm, needs a little smoothing.
Great beginners uke or a travel uke for the experienced players. Love the natural wood finish which looks like an open pore satin finish. Just because it's inexpensive doesn't mean it's cr@p. I own much more expensive ukuleles but this little Kala can hold its own against any of them. If you are just starting out and you have small hands this is the Uke for you. Don't forget to protect your investment, get a bag or case for your new uke.

I've had this ukulele for about 2 years now, and still plays great. But once it's been used for a long time and a lots, the strings will get out of tune faster than usual. But overall, this is an awesome uke.

I'm just starting out, and this thing is exactly what I was looking for. Great, right out of the box. Very easy to strum, for a soprano it has a pretty full sound as well. All in all its a great Uke for a great price!

Xmas Gift and I haven't put it down, not much to compare it to, but the sound is very fun. My only complaint, if any, is that it doesn't hold tune for very long, I keep a tuner on the head most of the time.

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty
A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.
Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.
How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.
Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.
Purchasing additional years of coverage
Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.
If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:
NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
