I originally bought a 12 channel mackie mixer to use with my pro8, but was doing a gig with some other guys and we didn't have enough inputs in the mixer itself, plus playing with the settings each time is a pain. I took it back and ordered the T8S. Although it may look kind of confusing at first glance, its actually really easy to figure out. I managed to setup some channels for guitar, mics add reverb had my buddy stand back and listen as we did a sound check for the first time. Once we had the settings where we wanted them, we saved it all to a scene. So everytime we set it up, we power it on and all the settings are in place with no playing around. I have added my kronos and the sound is spectacular. The bass is perfect using this with my pro8. I went with the T8S as I wanted the extra inputs and all the inputs have dual TRS/XLR which the mackie did not, so it actually gave me more usable inputs than the other mixer plus I have an extra couple on the pro8 itself. The hard cover is nice for transporting and covering up at home when not in use, but if you plan to leave it setup at home, the cover will not fit with the cables plugged in, so will need a separate dust cover. Overall I'm glad I got this over the other mixers. I have a separate laptop stand I put this on as it doesn't attach to the pro8. My buddy has this and a T4S and he uses the T4S more as he doesn't need all the inputs, but I'd rather have them and not need them, then need them and not have them. If you're going with one of the Bose speakers, then you highly recommend to go with the T4S and T8S. the sound and tonematch is really good. You'll be surprised how many people will comment on the sound quality.

I bought this to replace a Bose T4 (4 channel) mixer that I loved as I needed more channels. I'm a solo performer (12 string acoustics, singer, harmonizer, foot drum stomp boxes, etc). I thought I'd give anyone who is thinking of purchasing the T8S a few tips that I wish someone would have told me before I gigged with it! 1. If you're replacing the Bose 4 channel mixer remember that you cannot plug the T8S into the L1 power stand with the T4 digital cord--the T8S uses too much power for the T4 cord to handle. You need a balanced cord (either 1/4 inch OR xlr to plug into the T8S, and a 1/4 inch to plug into the L1 power stand in the "analog input". You also have to plug the T8 into an outlet for power with the supplied adapter, unlike the T4 that gets its power from the L1 power stand. You'll get some white noise (hiss) unlike the T4--the hiss is exactly the same as any traditional analog sound system, and it's not overbearing. 2. I had a heck of a time eq'ing my 2 acoustic 12 strings (Baggs element pickups) at my last gig. The same 3 band eq on the T4 is also on the T8, but it didn't help much--the guitars sounded really tinny and way too much mid range no matter what I did--it was a really frustrating gig. Also, there are limited selections for Tonematch; on the T4 I used the Breedlove Focus for my 12s--there is no 12 string preset on the T8. I solved the problem with the eq by stumbling upon the master 6 band eq (a new feature on the T8 that the T4 doesn't have)--I raised the low end a bit and reduced the mids--that was the biggest problem solver. The master eq is hidden in the "preference" selection via the rotary knob so it's easy to overlook. The master eq needs to have its own selection on the rotary knob. I also (strangely) found that the "nylon string with piezo" had the best Tonematch sound for my 12 strings--full and deep with crisp highs. 3. The mixer seems to have way more power than the T4, which may give you more issues with feedback--which hardly ever existed with the T4. I'm new to this scenario with the T8 so I can't really comment any further! 4. The sound seems substantially more "full" than the T4 (once I found the solutions to my eq problems). I prefer it too the sound of the T4 but the T4 was simpler to use. 5. I don't really use any effects so I can't comment on them (I use a bit of reverb but that's controlled by my harmonizer). Overall, I'm glad i bought this and it helped with input issues. The sound is superior to the T4 from my perspective, but it took some frustrating experiences to get there. Hoped this can help someone!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
