I wish I didn't wait so long to buy this. It brings my tube amps to life. The settings make my amps sound even better. I am excited to setup my pedalboard and try it all together. I would highly recommend the Ox!

I love this box, the stuff it can do is incredible, but UA hasn't done any kind of update for 2.5 years (aug 2022), and that means no new amps, the USB ports are still inactive, there are still bugs with using it over wifi.

It sounds great and I use it all the time but, the speaker level knob needs more settings. the jump from inaudible 2 to too-loud-for-a-house 3 is way too much. at the high end of the scale, the last few ticks do very little. the ox is useful for recording and playing with a band, but not amazing for turning a tube amp into a bedroom practice amp. you just have to play with the master volume on your amp too much. You are still not able to run your amp with the master volume setting you want, because you still need to use it as the final volume control.

First off it is a great attenuator. I like the sound of a tube amp when it naturally saturates, when you know where that suits you the best with your amp you can then set the attenuation where you want it to be. I have found the more you turn the speaker down the more headroom you loose, which makes sense of course. But I like some headroom and I am able to step it down twice and it is still good to my ears. But if you have restrictions to the volume you can play at then for sure you can step it down further and get great tone. I have been using the spdif digital out into my interface and am really impressed with how alive and present the guitar is when you record this way. I shut the speaker right down and that is amazing. All the different speakers, cabs and configurations do work well and give you a lot of options. I see some people complaining about the software and lack of direct usb connectivity and I do not see that as an issue at all. I run the OX software on my Windows workstation and it works good, no issues or complaints. Just had a software update and it updated without an issue. Some people want more options cabs, mics, effects etc.. and if that is really important to you this may not be the unit for you. I like that it is straight forward and I want to spend my time playing my guitar as opposed to sampling sounds. It is very quick and easy to get set up and running. This unit is excellent and you can't go wrong getting one.

I don’t typically do reviews, but this needs some love. First off, it’s is very simple to set up and use (even with the wifi). Probably the best attenuator I have heard. Wish some of the effects and cab sims could be ran into you cabinet. when utilized while recording provides very accurate reproduction of your rig. No 1000 dollar mics needed. Great device and it looks cool too.

This unit brings my guitar recording to a whole new level. I have the Axe FX II Ultra and although great in its own way, I've always felt it just doesn't have that 'real' amp sound. The OX does because your using your own amp and the cabinet/mic modelling is stellar. You don't have to worry about miking your amp anymore. It will be amazing to try different amp heads with this thing. Only complaints 1) The USB ports should be utilized to connect to your computer so you can sync the delay to your DAW. 2) A tuner would be great 3) The processing is great but it needs more. If you're considering this unit you won't be disappointed.

I've used a lot of different guitar FX, simulators, Kemper, Torpedo, etc. I have the Axe FX II XL which is great in its own way but the OX is definitely a step up from all of them. I've got a Krank 100 Watt 2x12 and it sounds great on its own but it's amazing out of my DAW with this thing. Everything just sounds so real and live! The only things I don't like are that there's no USB connectivity only WiFi and there's no tuner, but I can work with that. If you're thinking about buying it don't hesitate. You won't be disappointed.

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
