Great emulation of the Moog Minimoog Model D. Since I don't have thousands of dollars, I decided to pick up this Behringer take on the synth. It sounds quite amazing. There are only a couple of drawbacks with this synth. One, it can be a little tricky to keep in tune. It isn't too difficult to tune, but we all want to play rather than work. The other con is you can't load/save presets. You have to do everything by hand. In a way, that's somewhat of a pro too as it can help you discover more great sounds. I'm very much a soft-synth guy, so this is a new experience for me, but I'm now addicted to these Behringer devices. I have hopes of getting a Crave, then Edge, then maybe a Pro-800. They all seem pretty spectacular. If you're unsure about this, I highly recommend buying one.

I purchased a Behringer Model D recently from L&M, to be used specifically for a Rush tribute band I play with. And after connecting it to my M-Audio 49e keyboard controller via MIDI, it has been perfect for the job! Let's start with the sound. I have never owned a MiniMoog, but I have owned several other classic analog synths over the years, and the Behringer Model D sounds absolutely fantastic. You will see and hear many Moog fans online saying it does not sound "exactly" like a MiniMoog. Well, I don't have the $$$ to ever buy a real MiniMoog, but buying the Model D has not felt like a compromise in any way. As for programming, there is no memory preset functionality, so every sound has to be created on the fly. I've done synth programming before so it wasn't a problem, and I've found that with the various Rush songs we're doing it takes me maybe 10 seconds at most to make the knob tweaks between songs. The only "issue" (if I can even call it that) that I've experienced is the tuning, which is why I gave the Features a 4.5 instead of 5. It is an analog instrument and requires about 30 minutes "warm-up" time for the analog circuitry to stabilize, so if you are using the Model D for a show then just power it up well before your first set, tune it up to A440 using a decent guitar tuner, and you'll be good to go. The tuning over several octaves was incorrect out of the box, which I expected, so I did the tuning calibration process. I just took my time (about 45 minutes) and followed the thorough and straight-forward instructions provided by a couple of helpful YT videos and it has been good for several months now. Yes, you could damage the Model D during the calibration process. So, if you watch the YT calibration videos and you're still a bit leery, then take it to a professional to be calibrated. Don't let the great price or the size fool you, this is a amazing little tribute to the MiniMoog, and you won't have buyer's remorse!

Played a min since 1975 and fixed 5-6. This is outrageously good value for the money. Knobs are small but the modulation choices on the left include most of teh classic mods people had done back in the day. The hipass option lets it do things no minimoog can. You can "play" the switches between modes. Knobs are small. Upgrades of OS available online from them. The addition of Midi is excellent and the sound is faithful. Portable, y original in a case is 66 lbs. Ouch. headphone and lesCosts are 90% less than Highly recommended clone for leads and bass lines. keystep firendly.

Love this! True VCO analog MiniMoog clone with basic midi. What's not to love? I wish the price was more on par with what they pay in the U.S. though.

If you always wanted a Model D and don't want to dish out $$$$ for the re-issue, this little guy from Behringer is basically the same thing for $450 - if you can find one! Yes - it even goes out of tune once in a while and one time I had left it for a day and the ghosts in it started to make some weird sounds. Just like the original. And of all brands it is Behringer - wow amazing! A day rarely goes by without me fiddling

I just finished watching a demo - Moog vs Behringer. I was amazed at how closely this Behringer matches the sound quality and functionality of the original Minimoog at a fraction of the cost. As one who has played the Minimoog and spent many years with an ARP 2600 and various other analog synths I am sure this will please anyone who is looking for the classic Moog sounds without the high price. I am amazed, and will definitely look forward to trying one of these.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.

Great Additions
