It all started in 1987, the debut of the Ibanez RG was a milestone in rock guitar history. With its spartan look, supreme playability and versatility due to innovative specs, the RG made a big impact and still has been evolving today. The Ibanez Genesis Collection brings back vibe of the good old days with precise construction by Japanese craftsmanship, to prove that this iconic guitar has always led the rock guitar scene.

A prominent feature of the original RG is the ultra thin Super Wizard neck? constructed of five, glued, solid pieces of Maple/ Walnut for absolute rock solid stability. With the classic Edge tremolo bridge: the most extreme sonic acrobatics can be fearlessly performed with confidence that the guitar will effortlessly return to perfect tuning. The original Ibanez V7, S1, V8 pickups offer a wide range of sound and attack when combined with the 5-way pickup switch.

So, this guitar continues to be my number one, with one change: the PICKUPS. Bridge: Dimarzio Evolution Middle: Dimarzio Area 58 Neck: Dimarzio PAF Pro The stock pickups are the weak point - somehow both too mushy and too bright, at the same time. Still enthralled with this beauty!

I wanted something with a real 80s vibe, and a Floyd style trem. This hits all the marks, and then some. The neck is stunningly thin, and fast. The Ibanez trem was rock solid right away - being obscenely rude to it didn’t affect tuning at all. The Gotoh tuners could be locking, but they’re great already. The pickups are fine, but might warrant changing someday. Overall, this is insanely good value, even without a case (I ordered the molded Ibanez one), and is one of the nicest guitars I’ve ever owned. Thanks to Tyler H and Tracey at Royal Vista!

Super versatile, neck is amazing, stays in tune really well. High quality components. Very light. Made in Japan. The color is so vivid it'll make everything else seem dull in comparison . VERY FUN guitar. No gig bag, no case. I'm just disappointed that my guitar was a store transfer from another location and when I came home there was a bunch of hard scratches on the back of it near the heel joint that wouldn't come off even with polish. That's the last time I buy a guitar that isn't sealed in a box and pay new price with tax. If I'm buying "new" I expect perfection. You wouldn't buy a brand new car and pay the full price and then be ok with scratches on it when you go pick it up, would you?

The best guitar I have the pleasure of owning. Got the Desert Yellow and ordered both the red and purple one soon after because I wanted a backup and what the hell, they're that nice. A shredding dream that does not go out of tune no matter how much whammy you use.

I have both the Desert Sun Yellow and the Road Flare Red. When I saw that these were being released in 2018 I pre-ordered both. These guitars are spectacular. Better than the originals in my opinion.

Simply one of the best guitars ever built. At this price point it is a steal for a Japanese made Ibanez.

Spandex. Big hair. Excess. Back in the 80's, this was it. The ultimate shred machine is back and true to form. This time around it's built better than ever before and like it's predecessor it's made in Japan at the Fugigen plant, where a proper Ibanez is made. The build quality on these is absolutely fantastic. Paint, fretwork, hardware etc. You simply cannot get a guitar of this caliber in this price range from any other manufacturer. The original Edge tremolo is arguably better than any Floyd ever made and stays in tune beautifully, you can literally dangle the guitar by the trem bar and it will return to pitch. Every time. V7 and V8 Pickups are standard Japanese Ibanez fare. Not as hot as I?d like for this type of guitar, but good nonetheless and they're still versatile. Let's face it. This guitar was made for playing rock and metal and she does it well. Like Van Halen? Me too. This is perfect for that. It's the perfect guitar for ripping old school metal on and you will be extremely happy with it if you're into that style. A beautiful addition to the collection.

It has a high price but is worth every penny. It look grea, sounds amazing and is perfect for all styles and music the only down side is it's a pain to set up and change the strings although it's not too hard to learn. In saying that, the awsome Floyd Rose is worth it, it will hold tune for weeks. Its great.

Pre-ordered Jan. 13th/2018 and received mine on March 20th/2018! This thing is a beast! Just had to tune it up and this thing plays awesome! Intonation is spot on. The trem is unreal, very stable for tuning, It will not go out of tune! The color is unreal, my kids said it looks like a high-lighter marker. I have an older Ibanez RG270 DX (Cort Plant, Korea 1998) and there is no comparison to the quality of the RG550 (Fuji-gen Plant, Japan in 2018), you can feel the quality just by picking it up. The neck is smooth and comfortable. nice fret ends, pickups are pretty awesome. All-in-all completely happy! Thank-You Long&McQuade!!!!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: Starting at 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. Starting at 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
