TC Electronic Tube Pilot 12AX7 Overdrive

Additional Photos:
Tube Pilot Overdrive is full of the organic, touch sensitive saturation of a vintage tube amp being pushed into the danger zone and propels your tone to the stratosphere. Powerful enough to satisfy any guitar ace feeling the need for speed, Tube Pilot's fire spitting tones are powered by a glowing 12AX7 vacuum tube for authentic amp response. Kick in the afterburner and take the lead!
Real tube overdrive
Tube Pilot gives you the sound and feel of an old school tube preamp being pushed into natural distortion. Inside the pedal lives a 12AX7 vacuum tube like that used in preamp stages on many, many classic guitar amps, producing the rich, harmonically saturated overdrive that only tubes can produce. Using the Tube Drive knob on the pedal, you control how hard the tube is working. From barely breaking a sweat to switching on the afterburners and blasting into the stratosphere.
Unparalleled dynamics
The tone and feel you get from Tube Pilot is like what you'd get from an old school tube amplifier. It's extremely touch sensitive and reacts to how you attack the strings. Just like on a vintage tube amp turned up, you can use picking dynamics to seamlessly go from warm, clean chimes to fat blues tones or rich, grinding rock sounds with plenty of sustain.
Features:
• Tube-driven preamp
• All-analog circuitry with 12AX7 tube inside
• Warm, organic overdrive tones on tap
• True bypass
• Top-mounted I/O
• Compact but roadworthy design
• Highly affordable
• Power consumption: 9V DC and 300mA

That this isn't a full plate voltage tube is besides the point of getting tone.
This adds to my other pedal that gives a more natural harmonic saturation. They're both alternatives or cooperative in that pleasant saturation pocket.
As mentioned, a pleasant addition to make up my 2nd stage in my "amp modeling" trio of pedals.
I had a BD2 in this spot, this does that role but broader.
I've gotten a very acoustic tone out of about 9 o'clock gain, 12 o'c treble and just enough volume into a DS1 set minimal gain and 12 o'c tone. Seriously, much more natural than a Boss AC3.
But also, with input volume/signal level and the pedal's gain, there's a lot of natural sounding room to use.
Happy to say I can tame the pedal with volume/signal strength, so I'm not needing to mod. And I prefer low to mid OD rhythm tones.
What's super is pushing it with a Centaur-like I use as the "pre-amp" base crunch most times.
The harmonics trying to do Sixteen Stone with the Pilot vs the BD2 used to saturate the signal with sizzle and fizzle, maybe some fuzz, is better to my ears on the Pilot. BD2 not bad, Pilot better.
Best yet, BD2 boosting into the Pilot as a duo is very nice.

From mild overdrive to fuzz, this is it. Pretty well the only pedal I ever need any more, and great on bass too.

It turns bass amps and guitar Amps into a nice warm tube amps . A great sound is never a problem. I use a clean channel on a bass amp or guitar amp with just a little dirt. The tube overdrive harmonics are very musical.

Hands down the rowdiest overdrive I've ever used! Bought it to use as a boost before my main (always left on) distortion. I thought I'd find myself using a lot of gain but this pedal but I found its best sounds came from high output level and low drive settings just for the hard clipping it provides! A must have for people with darker amps as it's the brightest and rawest OD I own. Like I mentioned, it's very bright, but it has never been a problem for me at practice, gigs or at home. Hope this helps!

Gives my transistor amplifier (Fender Champion 100) a tube amp sound.
Good overdrive sound also, adds just the right amount of grit to your sound.
