I took a chance with these because of the low price and I must say that I am quite impressed. When they are run directly through the USB output of my Macbook, they are extremely loud with lots of bass. They are so loud that I need to bring down the output of my music player to about 1 or 2 and put the trim on the back of the speaker all the way down. When I run them through my Soundcraft small audio mixer, they are not as loud but plenty powerful for my small 10'x10' room. These have quite a bit of bass for a small speaker so they might not be the best as an inexpensive studio monitor but for regular listening, they are amazing.
